Where are all the baby clothes?

I'm 24 weeks and just starting to think about buying some baby bits.

Looking online for newborn and 0-3 month vest suits and sleep suits. Looked at Next, Baby Gap, H&M, John Lewis, M&S, Boots , Matalan, Peacocks and Asda.

Everywhere seems to be sold out? ( I need to buy unisex as can't book a gender scan).

Is this a COVID scarcity thing? Or do newborn clothes regularly sell out?

I'd have thought loads of people are still selling bundles of baby clothes second hand on eBay etc.
Our big Sainsbury's had what looked like full/normal stock of baby and toddler clothes when I went the other day, have you tried any other big supermarkets?
As a PP said if they're all made in Indonesia etc nothing much will be getting made right now.
Have you thought about buying from small, British businesses instead? I follow quite a lot of lovely small kids clothing businesses on Instagram if you want me to post any links?

God I wish there was a baby/kids version of ASOS where you could look at all the brands in one place and order online

Polarn o Pyret do a lovely range of unisex baby clothes.

Yes, it's a Covid thing. Expect in part due to supply chain issues but I also wonder whether supermarkets have taken them off their websites so they can prioritise food deliveries. Seems to be stuff in stores.

As a PP suggested, put a message on Facebook as lots of people are using lockdown to have a clear out but have nowhere to take their old baby stuff.

Another option would be to have a zoom baby shower and see if your friends and family send you some bits.

@harper30 yes please if you could list a few brands from Instagram - I was looking this morning without much luck.

We started buying clothes quite early before any of the lockdown was mentioned and people laughed saying we were being too prepared but I’m so thankful ! Because we went to then get bodysuits as I forgot about those and couldn’t find any anywhere. I downloaded this app called Vinted and there’s a baby boutique on there that sells used but like new baby clothes from different ages and they’re from a smoke free and pet free home. So we got some newborn bits from her too. Also Asda have some bits in store (But not online) but every other place I know has sold out ! Have you looked on Very.co.uk? They have lots too. I’m 21 weeks and wanting to get more bits but really struggling other than those two suggestions xx

I've ordered a few things from Mori which are gorgeous - sale only as pretty pricey otherwise!

Number3or4 · 21/04/2020 17:04

Can you or your dh/p go in store and buy it? That is what we did. I made dh a list of things to buy and he took a picture of the clothes aisle who were full. But it is all from Morrison’s.

I've just been to the big Tesco in our town and it has totally normal stock of babygros, vests etc. OP I would just ask someone to go and pick some up for you from a larger supermarket.
Good luck with your pregnancy!
