I have the worst heartburn. Makes me feel a little breathless. Not sleeping as well and just bothers me all day. Please can someone give me miracle cure?!
I had rennies and gaviscon but the chalky texture made me throw up - helpful! Have found Remegel which is chewy, quite an enjoyable eat! But haven’t really helped.
Any suggestions gratefully received x

I take the gaviscon liquid, which is grim but i can swallow it!

I have also stopped all caffine and fizzy drinks, i thought this was helping but had a bad day yesterday so maybe not.

I also like tums!
And not wearing a bra

You can probably get some meds prescribed over the phone. Saying that this is my second pregnancy with terrible heartburn and I haven't got myself any meds!

Notme1 · 18/04/2020 15:49

Hey
Sounds awful but have you tried a spoon of cider vinegar, I have really bad heartburn sometimes and this does take the edge away.

Tibtab · 18/04/2020 15:50

I tried ranitidine and omeprazole from the GP, the omeprazole saved my sanity. I had such bad reflux and hiccups from about week 14 until I gave birth! Speak to your GP.

MissMuddyPuddles · 18/04/2020 15:52

Omerperazol was the only thing that worked for me. I didnt want to take any tablets during pregnancy and suffered for 25 weeks to the point it was making me sick. Took omeprazole and felt like a different person within 2 days. Next time I wouldnt hesitate in asking the gp for something. If you phone they should prescribe you something. Hope it eases up soon Smile

Since the day I got Omeprozole 3 weeks ago it’s taken away all of my heartburn and 90% of my nausea. It’s the best drug I’ve ever taken for anything!!! Got it prescribed on the phone.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 18/04/2020 16:26

Omerpeeazole or ranitidine

Also, avoid foods that can trigger heartburn such as fried or greasy food, dairy in large quantities , fresh bread (toast is fine) etc

Mummyspider27 · 18/04/2020 17:11

Omeprozole sounds like a winner. Is it perfectly safe in pregnancy? Or slightly controversial? I am a worrier (IVF baby on board). Is it prescription only?
Thanks everyone xx

www.nhs.uk/medicines/omeprazole/
Safe for pregnant women, babies can also be given it in small quantities too if they have reflux I believe.
I understand you worrying though, you can always check with your doctor just to be totally sure Smile
Yeah I think its prescription only.

123456kent · 18/04/2020 18:44

It’s an over the counter medicine so someone could lie and get it for you, if you are the rebellious type (as it is safe in PG) but it sounds like you prob want to err on the side of caution - get a telephone appt with GP and ask specifically for it. And if you are like me, not have one minute of heartburn from the evening you take it - bliss

Mummyspider27 · 18/04/2020 19:37

Sounds like amazing stuff!!! If still suffering next week will definitely call the Dr, thanks so much everyone x

You do need Omazeropole OP I was in tears of pain two days ago and being sick Hmm (not preggars) went to pharmacy, well hobbled, and got it OTC. with 24 hours (I took 2 tablets instead of 1) I was fine!

I am in Spain but pretty sure it's OTC in UK too.

Good luck, mine was so bad I thought I had something terribly wrong with me an was considering hospital. It really was that bad. Even sipping water.

Luckily I have had it before and knew what is was.
