Do I need more baby clothes?

So far I have:

9 baby grows in 0-3 months
8 baby grows in Newborn
13 vests in Newborn
6 vests in tiny baby (5lbs)
13 vests in 0-3 months

think I might have too many vests... Accidentally bought the tiny baby ones!

Will this be enough for the first few months?

I'd say that's well enough. You'll get a lot of presents too. Mine didn't fit newborn very long though.

This looks like plenty! Recommendations vary based on who you ask but generally babygrows and vests are the only clothes you need. About 6–8 babygrows and 6–8 vests in total is usually enough and you have a range of sizes there. Don't buy any more newborn items, as they will be put away very quickly – unless you know your baby is going to be very small. You may find the tiny baby vests don't fit at all, depending on how big your baby it but you can always sell on eBay or Facebook marketplace.

We were going through 3 of each a day easy when he was a baby, we were doing washing everyday . Baby grows and vests are cheap, won’t hurt to get another pack of each

Thank you. Might pick up more when she's born.

I'd get another pack of vests and one of babygros in the size that fits up to about 9 / 10lbs (in M&S it's size "up to 1 month") - I've just been sorting through and washing all our old stuff ready for DC3 so have been checking the sizes. You can easily get through several vests and babygros in a day with leaky nappies and posseting etc and that size will last longer than the newborn, which I think is usually up to 7lbs or something . My DD1 was 9lb2 and didn't wear newborn sizes at all...

MissMuddyPuddles · 18/04/2020 16:46

I wouldn't buy anymore newborn until baby Is here, I bought quite a lot. Was told I was measuring average, guessed baby would be average size. She was 9.7 and didn't fit in any of it!

caffeinebuzz · 18/04/2020 16:49

If you don't mind washing every day that's plenty, if you'd prefer a bit more breathing space I'd buy another pack of each. And if baby is due fairly soon I would also get some long sleeve vests in 0-3 for wear as the weather starts to warm up.

Masses ; no need for any more.

Colouringinbook · 18/04/2020 17:33

You'll probably get some as presents too, they're easy to pick up in the supermarket if you need more.

mamaof2girls · 19/04/2020 07:34

I'd defo get more specially as you don't know how long things in the world is going to actually go on for so not so easy now a days just popping out for a few baby grows etc. My little one was in newborn for 8 weeks and she was 7.9 half. They can easy go through 3 off each a day. I defo wouldnt want to stand every day or every second day washing drying and ironing baby clothes after giving birth. Am due in 5 weeks and I have over 20 baby grows and vest etc just in newborn. Plus wouldn't depend on presents yes you do get them but with everything going on you won't be aloud visitors! X

MrsCl19 · 19/04/2020 07:39

I'd say your sizing also depends where they are from... I found asda was quite generous sizing I'd say you have enough for now to wait until baby is here and see her size :)

Temple29 · 19/04/2020 08:40

I’d say around 10 vests and 10 babygrows as a basic amount is fine. Agree with others that newborn size is a waste of time, DS was 6lb11oz and newborn only fit for 2 days!

Up to one month size is good for the first few weeks (Next and M&S do them) depending on how big baby is so I would go for that and 0-3 months.

MrFlibblesEyes · 19/04/2020 08:52

Babies vary wildly is size and shape so it's difficult to gauge. Ds was 6lb14 and we had to buy tiny baby clothes as newnorn was too big for him! I often see it advised on here to just buy 0-3 as they won't be in the small sizes long but it was a couple of months before 0-3 stopped being massive on him!

My boy was only 7lbs3 when born but was very long and didnt ever fit tiny or newborn:/
