I've searched the web, trawled the shops and found nothing.... so please help me! A very dear friend is getting married in December and, whilst really looking forward to the day, I will be eight moths pg and I can't find a thing to wear! Most maternity selections that have evening wear seem to only have black, which I don't think is very suitable!! Does anyone know where I can get an outfit from? You are my last hope, if this fails I'll be doing a Britney and going in a velour tracksuit!!

how about trying littlewoods/berkertex. when I was PG and was looking for wedding outfits last year, I found they did a lot of reasonably nice and cheap elasticated waist outfits that would do.

Have you thought about a 2 piece, say maternity trousers and a normal fit top in a few sizes bigger? Maternity stuff is expensive especially dressy stuff and will you get the wear from it?

Have you tried Blooming Marvellous? They usually have some lovely maternity gear.

I found I didn't really care at that stage... I wore a JoJO dress all summer last year and to a wedding - just smartened it up with a nice cardi. How about black with a colourful scarf/pashmina? Good luck!

How about a pair of maternity trousers that aren't black ie neutral or beige and wearing them with a big floaty top that isn't maternity but just 2 or 3 sizes too big? Then team the outfit up with a hat to make it all look like a wedding outfit?

I'm too off to a wedding at 8mths. Was going to wear a dress I made earlier this year but I am already too big for it & can't be arsed to alter it.

I think for a winter wedding you can get away with darker colours. I have got some black trousers to wear, a light coloured top and will be dressing it up with accessories - eg necklace/poncho etc ie things that can be worn after pregnancy.

kookie, the maternity shops will be getting their "christmas party season clothes" in soon, so maybe you are looking just a few weeks too early?
otherwise, I agree, accessories are the way to go. beautiful scarf, lovely necklace (one or the other obviously), lovely shoes (try lk bennett for nice evening shoes with low kitten heels). and I would cast aside my "never wear black at a wedding" rule for advanced pregnancy as well - frankly wear whatever you can find that looks smart enough!

Topshop maternity range have a couple of nice things - dresses and not black and a couple of floaty tops. Don't know if they're online though.

Thanks guys! Located the blooming Marvelous website today and ordered a smart empire line dress (which is black, but you convinced me!) I think I'll definitely go down the colourful pashmina route. Thanks for all your help, this site is a god send!!!

Hi Kookie,

I discovered Topshop maternity last week. After feeling horribly uncomfortable in what clothes I had I walked out of Topshop on Oxford Street with bags of stuff. the best buy I have to say was a beautiful wrap over black dress. Ideal for anything and tied up just under the boobs. Very flattering and can be mixed with all sorts of accessories. The other website I discovered was www.PeainaPod.com, an american site a bit on the pricy side but home to all the celebs and some great kit - do mail order to. Otherwise try www.laredoute.com, again mail order but good.

If you come up with any other suggestions thtem pls let me know. Good Luck! nashers x

Fantastic timing - I'll be attending some very close friends' wedding at 8 months pregnant in January. Don't want to turn up in my mothercare maternity jeans!

As nashers said, Top Shop have some fab maternity clothes-a couple of silk printed dresses which would be great for a smart do. They have a website and you can look at the maternity stuff there too. Have a look here

I've been to a couple of weddings at 7 months pregnant and just wore smart black maternity trousers and then a really smart top, great shoes, bag and jewellery. Think I got one of the tops at Next, and one at JoJo.
