Baby movements - does ultrasound mean everything is ok?

I’m 38 weeks pregnant and am constantly stressing about my baby and whether they’re ok. I just want them to come out now so that I know everything is fine!

Movements particularly worry me as even though I’m feeling the baby move quite regularly (particularly after meal times), I’m constantly worried it’s not enough and that they should be moving constantly with no quiet periods.

I had a growth scan this morning with a consultant - he spent what seemed like an age checking over the baby and said that everything looks good. Does this mean that everything is ok with the baby (at that point in time at least) and that I can relax for a bit, or should I have requested movement monitoring as well?

You definitely need to keep monitoring baby movements but your sonographer would have been checking the Baby was still growing on track and also looking at flow between baby and the placenta etc. If there was a problem with the flow you may feel a reduction in movements but this would have been checked. Try not to worry and just keep an eye. He obviously was happy with what he saw.

Thanks Mouse - that’s reassuring. I’m going to be a bag of nerves until this baby is born I think.
