Hi,

I apologise in advance about this question as I know it sounds stupid.

I lost a baby last October and had the contraceptive implant fitted right away. Everything has been okay the past few months. My periods are irregular with the implant and so I am unsure as to when my last period was which makes it hard to predict when to do a test.

My long term partner and I always have unprotected sex (because of the implant and are aware neither of us has STDs etc) but for the past week and a half I have had horrific abdominal pain in the pelvic area, on and off vaginal bleeding, back ache , sore nipples and have been feeling nauseous. After a gp visit I was told it could be appendicitis but just to wait it out as when she asked if I was pregnant , I said no.

I'm worried now that I may actually be pregnant as I have looked up appendicitis and spoke to 111 and my symptoms don't match fully but are closer to ectopic pregnancy.

Has anyone ever fallen pregnant whilst having the implant? I've been frantically searching the internet for answers . I am obese and wondering if it could have caused the implant to fail?

Sorry for the rambling but I needed to get it off my chest and hopefully find some answers.

Going to buy a pregnancy test anyway when I get paid but need to calm my mind in the meantime.

Thanks,
Vanessa x

GP thought it was appendicitis but said wait it out? How bizarre. Can’t think how appendicitis would ever cause vaginal bleeding.

Its highly unlikely given your implant is less than 6 months old but the only way to know is to do a test.
