If you are a high risk pregnancy with increased scans and/or are consultant led, are you still getting all your appointments?

Or are they reducing scans and appointments?

I had my 25week cancelled, was seen at 28weeks and won’t be seen again until 34weeks. I was supposed to be seen every 3 weeks

I had my 20w scan as usual and am waiting for some appointments to come through the post. My midwife has been great and said she'd book them really early or late so I avoid as many people as possible. She is also getting me in to do the GP appointments and whooping jab.

Hi, I'm high risk so have scans every four weeks, which are continuing. My 4 weekly consultancy appointments are shifted to telephone calls but I think they would see me face to face if I wanted.

mrssunshinexxx · 17/04/2020 21:35

Yes I'm getting all mine

RenegadeMrs · 17/04/2020 21:38

I'm consultant led with 2 extra scans scheduled. So far the consultant appointment moved to a telephone call (totally fine by me and she doesn't do any physical checks) and one of the two extra scans have gone ahead as has my midwife appointments (in person). Second extra scan due in May so I'll see what happens then.

I think it really varies from area to area.

Thanks all!

That's really helpful actually as I thought the consultant appointments were instead of midwife appts so I thought they would be doing physical checks such as measurements/heartbeat listening etc

I've got my 25 week midwife appointment in a couple of weeks then consultant appointment at 28 weeks (first one was 15 weeks so this is 2nd appt with them).
Haven't had either cancelled or changed to telephone appointment yet but I'm kind of expecting it.

rosesinblooom · 17/04/2020 22:06

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are the consultant appointments if they aren't doing physical checks?

Midwife apps and scans due to go ahead. Next scan has changed to a different hospital though.

I've been told my next consultant appointment, I hand my notes over in the car park, then wait in my car and the consultant will phone me if there is anything to discuss.

oatlyexhausted · 17/04/2020 22:21

My consultant apps are to review my growth scans. Plus they put me on aspirin.

Blood pressure, baby's heart rate etc is all still done by my normal midwife.

LH1987 · 17/04/2020 23:44

My consultant appointments talk about my diabetes management, they also have a health care assistant do some checks beforehand (Urine / BP), since there has never been an issue with these I suppose they are deeming them not essential.

I've only had one consultant appointment so far but it seemed to me he just looked over my notes and results. He told me to keep an eye on my iron and that I would be induced at about 39 weeks. Pretty much it. Midwife did all tests etc.
