NT 2.7 mm, negative NIPT test, CVS?

Hi All! I'm worrying sick since last week (12th week of pregnancy). Everything was fine on scan except the NT was 2.7 mm with CRL 57 mm. I got medium result (1:480) on combined test. Immediately I went to NIPT test which resulted negative with 99,9% reliability. Still my doctor sent me to genetical counselling and I know that they prefer cvs in the hospital. What would you decide in my place?

I'm sorry I don't understand. If your NIPT test was negative with 99.9% accuracy, why do you need CVS? 1:480 is also still pretty low in itself...

With an NT of only 2.7mm I wouldnt expect an issue but of course there can be.
Our NT was 5.3mm and there was a problem. My 4yo had an NT of 2.1 and was fine. They normally say under 3.5mm is normal.

@rottiemum88 the NIPT can only test for the main 3 chromosomal issues. A high NT can indicate many chromosomal issues, heart issues or other structural problems.

The doctors in the hospital believe only in cvs, that is 100% for them.

Yes, but also cvs cannot detect heart issues or any structural problems either, only special heart scan later on.

Yes true. In our case we had the heart scan at 18 weeks and then the amnio which detected a chromosomal issue.

Lencsi · 17/04/2020 07:18

And until the 18 weeks nothing was detected? No NIPT test was taken?

@Lencsi I had a NIPT. It came back all fine because my little boys problem was not one of the main 3 issues.
Even at 18 weeks it was still only the fact the nuchal measurement was raised and there was a possible heart issue showing.
We just had it as a precaution but its a good job we did.

Treaclepie19 · 17/04/2020 07:26

And there were structural issues that hadn't shown on the scan as well as issues with organs that had already started. Scans are tricky to see things on.

Lencsi · 17/04/2020 07:38

If not one of the main 3 issues then which chromosomal issue was detected? How high was the NT? If I am not mistaken the NT should dissapear until the 18 weeks.

@Lencsi there are hundreds of different chromosomal things that can be wrong. Ours didn't even have a name as it was deletions of chromosome 2. No reason for it, not passed on from us as we've had genetic testing since.
The NT being raised was from my 13 week scan. It was 5.3mm.
