Sex to bring on labour?

Due tomorrow, not having many signs of pending labour apart from mild aches and pains down below and in my back.

Anyone had experience of sex bringing on labour? I've read that semen can help get this moving due to the hormones Blush

No idea but following I'm due in 3 days with my fourth and he feels too comfy in there so far

Yes my waters actually broke during sex when I was pregnant with dd Blush although he hadn’t finished so..
It was my due date so not sure whether she would have come that day anyway but it sped things up.

Ds I was over a week overdue and actually asked him for sex (I was very miserable and fed up) but he said no, it suddenly felt weird this time around apparently.

I once heard that it's because there's a protein in semen that promotes the breakdown of the mucus plug.... but that you'd need at least 7 'loads' to even start having an effect. No chance I'd have the energy for that at 40 weeks pg Grin

Worked for me both times, like literally immediately so be prepared!

MrsRose2018 · 15/04/2020 20:25

Nipple stimulation will do it better!

I’m at risk of early labour and every person under the sun - medical and otherwise - has warned and warned and warned me against trying to pump/bank/express milk as it can bring on labour!!

Belt and braces! Do both!! Have fun :) xx

Water broke 3 hours after sex with 1 dc...

I think it depends if you have had sex throughout pregnancy as my friends it worked with hadn’t or hadn’t had much sex. Those it didn’t work with had sex every few days throughout pregnancy!

Great sex- triple whammy! Nipple stimulation plus orgasm to give you maximum oxytocin levels then the prostin in sperm to help prime the cervix. Enjoy! 😂

I went for a pregnancy massage and reflexology on my feet and it brought on labour, lost my mucus plug 3 weeks early and baby arrived a few days after that, maybe ask someone for a back massage and foot rub since no where's open at the mo?Grin

Yep, worked for me. It was after my due date though, 40+10 and baby was born about 12 hours after DTD.

You are right about hormones but it's not just semen (which contains prostaglandin I believe), it's also the female orgasm which produces oxytocin. So make sure you enjoy it too Wink
