Cora during Coronavirus

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and my husband and I had previously (in late December) settled on the name 'Cora' for our baby.

Then the world changed.

Is it a bad idea to name a baby Cora during Coronavirus?

We have alternative names we like - but I'm wondering if I'd just constantly regret not calling her Cora.

What would you do?

Why does Cora have anything to do with Coronavirus? I’m confused.

I love the name Cora... like downton abbey 👍💙

I dont see why you should change your choice. In years to come it can be a funny story and let's face it, once this is all over who is even going to make the slightly tenuous connection.

I wouldn't link the 2 together.

It's more that I was worried that they sounded similar - or that the name would be connected with coronavirus in the future.

It's music to my ears that people wouldn't make the connection!

I know a beautiful baby Cora. It's a lovely name OP, I would never have connected the 2

Unless your last name is 'Virus' I think you're okay!

Cora is a nice name!

I heard of some twins in India that were named covid and corona!

A friend had a little girl called Isis! Long before IS was a thing.
She has changed her name now

Go for it, it’s beautiful. And the way you pronounce it is different to corona I think. I wouldn’t make any link.

As long as you don't have Navirus as a middle name, you're fine.

My friends 6 month old is cora its beautiful and not associated with corona aoart from the letters. No one will link the two.

bluemoon2468 · 15/04/2020 18:14

It's not that similar to coronavirus, it's not even pronounced the same. I think you're overthinking it a bit - I would never have made the association myself. It's such a lovely name, use it 😊

I'm a Cora, can't see where people would link the two... No one has said anything to me :)
