Hi everyone!

I really want a jersey baby sling but don't know where to start! I like the caboo but it's like £70 😬 Any recommendations for one that is relatively straightforward to put on 🙈 and comfy for the baby?

I'm trying to decide between the caboo and the K'Tan (although with the k'tan you have to select your size so only I could wear it not DP). But I agree they do seem experience.

CMMum88 · 15/04/2020 08:25

I have a solly baby wrap which I really like.

BeautifulBirds · 15/04/2020 08:26

I got the caboo and love it. Baby is 9 months now and we still use it. Videos on YouTube on how to wear it differently.

Try ebay and marketplace for second hand ones.

Google sling libraries. My local one is hiring out slings by post atm - a fiver a month.

BeautifulBirds · 15/04/2020 08:27

Or if there is a sling library near you go to that, hire a few and see which one you prefer.

ChainsawBear · 15/04/2020 08:28

Try renting from a sling library for now (most of them have gone online/postal). There's nothing like trying something out to find out what you need. Then you can buy one secondhand.

Happywith2 · 15/04/2020 08:29

We have a Tula and love it.
If you have a sling library get in touch with them for advice.
There is so much to choose from

I had a k'tan and it was brilliant. Same sort of prewrapped style as the caboo. I got mine on ebay for about £20. Full price they're £50 I think. The website has a sizing guide. If in doubt go for the smaller size.

november90 · 15/04/2020 08:42

Thank you all! I was hoping to use the sling library but I'm having massive anxiety about corona atm and although I'm sure they're all washed and prepared well enough, I just want to use my own things with the baby. I hope that doesn't sound ridiculous, I just don't want to add to any worry 🙈

I've also seen the Argo aura wrap. Has anyone used that? Caboo do seem to have the best reviews that I've seen online!

We have bought the new Ergo embrace. Its a newborn soft sling, but has buckles so goes on like a structured sling. It seems easy to use and adjust from initial practice.
We have the main ergo for later on also, but I wanted something easy for the first few months that would be comfy to use indoors and locally.

PrinnyPree · 15/04/2020 08:52

I just got a caboo second hand for peanuts, I picked it up from a local driveway (using a carrier bag as a glove) and flung it in my boot. Its staying there for at least 3 days which is the max the virus can last on any surface. I'll then remove and dispose of any outer packaging and shove it in the wash.

You can still buy second hand or hire as long as you take precautions and quarantine. X

Get on eBay or Facebook marketplace. We got our caboo for a fraction of the price.

We didn't want to pay full price given we knew we would want to transition to a sturdier sling/carrier as baby got older - since moved to a mamaruga but again these are pricey at £95 and we couldn't find a 2nd hand one for love nor money.

We went for the caboo light for our first sling as my DH used it a lot and he's one of these blokes that is always hot so he didn't want a sling that was too thick.

Works like a charm and sends DC off to sleep almost instantly which was a godsend with DC being a VERY poor sleeper unless held.

Lemondropsandgumdrops · 15/04/2020 09:05

We had the caboo with my eldest and honestly it was amazing, I couldn’t recommend it enough. We first used it when DD was about 9 days old and it was the only place she’d settle other than on my boob and it meant I could actually sleep for the first time. I would have paid 10 times its worth for that alone Grin

november90 · 15/04/2020 09:48

Thank you everyone!
Which caboo did you all opt for? I have seen a few different versions online!

I can’t remember the name of it, but we had the grey cotton one, and then we also got the NCT version as someone was selling one locally to us for £5 so picked it up as a spare (I found they needed to be washed quite often as they’d get a bit stinky so having 2 was amazing so we’d always have one in use, I wouldn’t have necessarily paid out full for 2 though!)

MsChatterbox · 15/04/2020 11:35

Check ebay etc as they can all go in washing machine and quality ones will be like new!

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 15/04/2020 11:55

Check out ebay second hand, we got an amazing Ergo Baby with all the bits for a newborn for around 25 pounds.

Colouringinbook · 15/04/2020 12:41

I had a Hanna wrap and a connecta. Both fantastic.
