Induction vs natural

Hi all.

I would really like some help. I'm 33 weeks and baby has a genetic lethal condition. I won't go into that as such, but went for growth scan today and was told I can opt in for an induction in 4weeks time if I'd like to or just wait it out to go naturally (due 1/6).

Wasn't given any info about the difference. I was so overwhelmed I didn't ask every question I had. Been a very stressful pregnancy, so my emotions are all over the place.

I will be messaging my MW about this and hopefully she can help, but any advice, help or stories would give me an idea of difference between the two.

I understand it's different for everyone, but would like to read your thoughts. As I'm a nervous wreck.

Thanks all

I would always go for natural over induction the rate of inductions that end in an emergency csection is quite high x

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby.

I would go with your midwife's advice foremost, but my opinion is that you should wait to deliver naturally. Induction wards (in my experience) aren't the nicest of places- and I would imagine they have very restricted access for partners at the moment. I was induced at 37 weeks and was on the induction ward for 4 days before they finally moved me down to delivery- my body just really wasn't ready to deliver that early! Even then I wasn't even 1cm dilated and so they only just managed to break my waters.

@KHall84 thanks for this. I just looked on nhs website and % is 22%. Really want to avoid em section as much as poss so definitely something to bare in mind thank you.

@keentohelp hi thanks for your advice! Sorry you didn't have the best experience! That's the thing will my body even be ready?? I have messaged my MW so hopefully she will call me at some point to discuss.

They only suggested it for my own piece of mind, so I don't have to wait til he's ready naturally as it's been very stressful. However, I have waited long enough I don't think 5weeks extra will make much difference.

Definitely need some time to think about this xx
