Constant braxton hicks when walking (34 weeks)

Every time I try and go out for a walk, severe braxton hicks start up. They are painful and constant, after only a few minutes my belly goes really tight and then I get waves of quite bad pain that do require breathing through. I just went for a walk, walked less than 2 1/2 miles (a VERY short walk for me) and the whole time it was painful braxton hicks that didn’t go away until 10 minutes after I got home, (I’m still getting some but they aren’t as frequent) I can’t not leave the house for the next 6 weeks so what on Earth do I do!?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Worth getting checked out. I had that with both mine and both came between 32-35 wks.

They are still going 2 hours after my walk. So I’ve now been having braxton hicks for 4 hours... I have a 2 year old asleep in bed and a 40-50 minute drive to hospital. They don’t feel like they’re getting any worse, I have a midwife appointment Wednesday or could ring up tomorrow morning or do you think I’m taking too much risk??

Give them a ring just to check. They work 24/7 so it doesn’t matter to them. Could you drive yourself to the hospital if they wanted to check you over?

It’s probably nothing but if you do have a premature birth then it’s much better to get ready in advance, and you may be offered injections to prepare the baby, which take time to work.

( I had a prem for my third. I trusted my instincts that it wasn’t labour but there was another problem and I nearly cut it too fine by being blasé and not wanting to disturb my other kids)

Are you definitely drinking enough water? You need a lot more at this stage in your pregnancy.
