Are booking in apps still on?

Hi. I have my booking-in appointment tomorrow at my local surgery with the community midwife and I haven’t heard anything to say that it will be over the phone instead? I know it’s a bank holiday weekend so unless I hear by an hour before my appointment I will just turn up as expected. I just thought given the circumstances they wouldn’t want to see people.

Has anyone had their appointment in the last week, and was it face to face or over the phone?
I’ve tried calling some numbers today but they are not open

Thanks

I think most are happening over the phone but strange you haven’t heard anything. Can you call and ask first thing?

Pineappletree33 · 13/04/2020 18:44

I’ve got mine next week and as far as I’m aware it’s at the surgery.

Farmgirl85 · 13/04/2020 18:52

I'm due to go for mine on Friday and I have to go to my health centre to see the midwife where I'm from we get a scan at our booking appointment to date the pregnancy etc appointment takes up to one hour x

Luckyme30 · 13/04/2020 19:02

Mine phoned me the day before to say she would do it over the phone.

She then asked me to come in later on that afternoon for bloods and urine sample so maybe she plans on taking bloods and urine when you’re due in and will do the rest by telephone with you later that day?

New2020 · 13/04/2020 19:03

My booking appointment was over the phone :( Luckily phoned the day before and confirmed.

I would give them a call first thing just in case. During my over the phone booking appointment I heard them calling someone to tell them it would be over the phone and she was already on her way in

peachypetite · 13/04/2020 19:04

Mine is next week. Haven’t heard otherwise but I’ll definitely be double checking before I go.

Babyshine2020 · 13/04/2020 19:13

Not my booking appointment but my 25 week is still with the midwife, the health centre is pretty much shut and there is minimal staff but they're trying to keep all pre and post natal appointments operational where I am.

Rolly123 · 13/04/2020 21:20

I also have my booking appointment tomorrow and haven't heard anything from them to say not to come in. I might give them a call in the morning though to be sure. Would rather not go in if I don't need to!

LH1987 · 13/04/2020 23:09

It might still be face to face at booking in appointment because they want to do blood tests. My 28 week appointment was still face to face because of blood tests.

I had a booking in appointment 2 weeks ago which was in person. The midwife had a face mask and the were some precautions around coming in and out of the building, but other than that seemed to be running pretty much as normal, at least in my area.

Good luck today ladies

I had my booking appointment last week . I received a letter the week before with the date and time and they made it very , VERY clear it was a phone appointment. But then it got really confusing because after my phone appointment they asked me to come in that afternoon to my local health clinic to hand in a urine sample , get blood work and my blood pressure checked 🤷‍♀️

Rainbowafterthestorm · 14/04/2020 09:09

Mine was on the 7th. I was rang 4 days before and told this would be the case but wouldn't be necessarily on the 3rd. She asked if it mattered what day she called, I said it didn’t matter as I was working from home and could leave off at any time. She said that she’d add me to the weekend list so she didn’t disturb me, which was nice of her. I’ve had no bloods, urine etc but midwife told me that this will all be done at my 12 week scan appointment.

Chwil20 · 14/04/2020 11:00

Turns out it was over the phone, and took about 30 minutes. She booked my 12 week scan and 16 week appointment over the phone. All bloods etc will be taken at the scan:)

@chwil did they notify you in advance?

Chwil20 · 14/04/2020 12:00

@peachypetite no, it’s lucky I rang the surgery who then told me no midwives would be there. So had to spend ages on the phone to the booking people to find out what was going on. The midwife rang me 30 mins after the appointment was meant to start though and we did it over the phone there and then x

It is bad that they aren’t informing people in advance!!
