No period 8/9 weeks after miscarriage at 5/6 weeks pregnant. How long did yours take to return?

Hello everyone,

I miscarried at 5/6 weeks about 8 weeks ago, naturally. I'm sure my period is due any day now but just wondering for piece of mind, I wasn't expecting it to take so long because I was so early on in my pregnancy? What was your experience? I was expecting it to arrive at 4 - 6 weeks after.

It was confirmed by an internal scan that my body looked after itself 8 weeks ago.

Is it crazy that sometimes I think I might still be pregnant? I will probably be hit with all the emotions all over again when it arrives. This self isolation business is also heightening all my feelings :(

I’m so relieved to have found this thread. I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago and still no sign of AF. I missed carried at 8 weeks and my hcg levels didn’t go down a long time - I’ve always had regular periods so was expecting it to arrive anytime but since having a negative test, I’ve had positive and negative PT - so I’m all over the place.

Don’t think I’ve ovulated so highly doubt I’m pregnant again - test today negative and tbh I really just want me period back to kick things off. I’ve been going crazy with these PT results and I’m worried there’s leftover tissue which is why it’s picking up my HCG. I’m hopefully getting a scan done to check but this whole scenario has been the worst and this is just prolonging it. Mentally and physically just feeling so horrible.

Reading these comments have made me feel better to know periods can take longer than 6 weeks to arrive! What a messy situation.

Natt20 - I could’ve written your message myself. I am going through the exact same. I’m going to get blood tests done today because I’ve been getting negative and positive PT results last week which has completely messed with my head.

I also had spotting for 1.5 days last weekend - naturally thought it was my period but it wasn’t. I feel like I’m getting no answers from anyone and just want things to go back to normal. Sorry you’re having to go through this as well xx

I had a miscarriage 8 weeks ago and still no period, have had some light brown discharge for about a week now, has this happened to anyone else, does that mean my period is coming soon?

@RaachelMorrow I'm so sorry for your MC when I had mine it took 12 weeks for my period to return! It was absolutely awful waiting for it! X

Mine took 18 weeks to return after mmc at 11 weeks, 1 lot of medical management and 2 lots of surgical management.

Mine came back 6 weeks after a chemical at 4w6d.

But that was very early, it can take longer if you were more weeks. x

Hi all I had a missed miscarriage 5 weeks ago I had a d&c bleed for 3 days after and nothing since no period nothing. For last week I’ve been very bloated sore boobs hungry tired headache ext I had my hcg levels done yesterday and the doctor said it’s 5 now me ive also had brown discharge on and of for the last week also and cramps and partner have been since the 1 week after the d&c mostly everyday since I’ve done a test it was negative just want my period or to be pregnant again the wait is so frustrating anyone else had this?

I was heart broken after taking 5 pregnancy tests and them confirming I'm pregnant I had went to the doctor for them to tell me that I was 7-8 weeks pregnant but there's no fetal heart beat and to have a scan of my stomach only to find out the sack was empty with no child there It has been the most uneasy and very hurtful pain even and with the pills I'm taking I'm so uncomfortable and knowing I'm about to get the dnc if these don't work makes it harder this is my second miscarriage in 12 years and Im hoping that if and when I try again that I am able to have a beautiful little one

I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and I found out a week later. The baby didn't come out of my body till July 2 this year and my and my boyfriend have been having unprotected sex. Since my miscarriage, I haven't gotten my period yet and it has been about 8 weeks I keep taking tests and they keep coming back negative and I don't know I'm a little worried.

Can I get some advice please. So on the 10th Oct I had a miscarriage and bleed for nearly 6 weeks after. Been told by doctors I should have my period with in upto 8 weeks from dat of bleeding. Its coming closer to 9 weeks and all test or negative or have a very faint line. Doctors won't run test keep telling me to relax and everything will be OK.
Has anyone had to deal with this

I know this post is old but how is everyone getting on now? I was pregnant with twins they was in the same sack and I miscarried just before my 12 week scan. That was 4 weeks ago now and I still have no period and I’m getting worried.

Hi Layla, hope you're doing ok. I miscarried last week at 11 weeks and reading through this thread it could take 2-3 months for periods to come back. Take care

Morning, I’m so sorry about your loss. I’m just super worried because I only have one ovary and before the miscarriage I used to get my period every 3 and a half weeks. I just want my body to go back to normal and I’m so worried I won’t have a period again :(

I sadly had a mmc earlier this year at 12 weeks, my period came back 4 weeks after it happened. I had been warned it could be heavy and painful but it was absolutely fine, no pain and was quite light, just a normal period.

I had a DNC preformed on Jan 13 I was 12 weeks (chemical pregnancy) still have not received AF but having pregnancy symptoms again. Has anyone gotten pregnant without a AF after a DNC

Hope someone can relate to my story.
I've had a mc on the 5.2.2022. Today is the 17.3.2022 and still no period with multiple negative pregnancy tests. I don't know what to do. My husband was really hoping that I was pregnant. The internet shows the first day of miscarriage you count it as a period. With that my flo app shows my cycle would start on the 8.3.2022. Today is q7. 03. and still no period. I booked an appointment with a gynecologist to know what's going on with me.

I was 12w+1 pregnant when I had spotting (we had just found out like 3 weeks before that we were pregnant and ever since I had always the feeling something was wrong!! 😫), so I went to EPU, had my very first scan ever and found out I had a missed miscarriage as our baby stopped growing at 8+3 weeks. Worst day of my life as I thought when we found out, it was already gone. This was 17/01, on 19/01 had medical management, bled for a week and then I expelled this big big clot which I figured was the sac 😞 bleeding stopped for like 5/6 days then came back for a few days. After 3 weeks took a pt which came back positive. Went to EPU again for a scan and turned out I had 3mm of tissue left but was really tiny, so they told it was either going to come out with my period or dissolve, and was also told to take another pt after 2 weeks. One day I had spotting, then after a few days I had it again. Took pt and came back positive again, faint lines but still positive, so I went to EPU again, took forever to take a goddamn pt but turned out negative on the same day. Felt relieved as 5 weeks after my miscarriage I finally had a negative pt (they told me the 3mm of retained tissued had probs dissolved or come out with that discharge). Now it’s been 9 weeks after my miscarriage and still no period!!! Last week I had spotting for 4/5 days in a row but still nothing. We started having sex again 3 weeks after the bleeding stopped, no birth control for me, no condoms for my husband, only pull out game lol took several pt, as of today not pregnant. We really want to try again and the wait is so frustrating!!! I have a ob/gyn check this Saturday and hopefully I’ll know more!!!

I had a miscarriage this year march, then I was seeing spotting the second month nd the third month, the spotting stopped and have not see my period since then, please help me, this is the 6months

Hello, we are trying for our second baby and I was overjoyed I got a BFP on 4th Feb 2023. Sadly, I started bleeding on 13th March and after 2 pregnancy scans it was confirmed I'd had a miscarriage on 16th March. Since then I've had helicobacter pylori treated with triple therapy antibiotics. We are now trying again but I've not had a period since 4th January. I spoke to the nurse and she said if I hadn't had a period or fallen pregnant by November get in touch, and she will look at my hormone levels. Do we just keep trying to conceive? Or get a second opinion about my period not coming back? So confused and very emotional about the whole situation. Thanks for reading. PS. Did a test today and it was negative.
