Hi all,

I'm new here so be nice Smile

I've got my 12 week scan next week, I'm just wondering with the current Pandemic is my partner unable to come? A few people have told me different things and I can't find any article online to say he can't!

He keeps getting stroppy at me because he wants me to find out lol!

Please help! X

Our hospital isn't letter anybody into the unit apart from expectant mothers (unless you're in labour) - you're best phoning to check but I'm pretty sure this is the same for all hospitals

The rules are set by the individual health trusts, many have published on their Twitter/fb pages. Ours have banned partners from scans and appointments. Easiest would be to call and find out but most like;y no partners.

October2020 · 11/04/2020 18:22

No partners here. I would be absolutely amazed if any hospitals are allowing partners in. They did give me about 10 photos for free though which was amazing :)

otterbaby · 11/04/2020 18:25

It varies between hospitals - your best option is to ring your hospital and ask them what their procedure is.

JC084 · 11/04/2020 18:25

I think most places seem to be the same - no partners allowed. I phoned to check last week and then they called me this morning to ask questions about me / my household and check if we'd been unwell, coughing, temperature etc at all. My appointment is Tuesday x

NameChange30 · 11/04/2020 18:26

Just look it up on the hospital's website and/or FB page, it's not difficult!

It's likely that partners aren't allowed as that's the general rule but your partner is right to ask you to check.

He could also check himself, of course...

peachypetite · 11/04/2020 18:27

Ask your hospital. Nobody on here will be able to give you an answer.

nicolah1325 · 11/04/2020 18:30

Oh I see , I'll contact the hospital on Tuesday just to be safe then!

Thank you all x

Our hospital didn’t let any of the partners in the waiting room come in. They just had to sit and wait x

Chanel05 · 11/04/2020 18:33

Most places are a no.

NameChange30 · 11/04/2020 18:36

Don't call the hospital and waste their time, look online first as the info should be there.

DressingGown87 · 11/04/2020 18:37

I’ve got my scan next week, and they said when booking that I wasn’t allowed a partner. It does vary between trusts, but many have posted on their website, Facebook, or twitter. So maybe have a look on them, or post a more specific trust if you want to find out sooner. I’m Lancashire.

GaaaaarlicBread · 11/04/2020 19:20

I had my 20 week scan on Thursday and my husband wasn’t allowed in . It varies x

Needallthesleep · 11/04/2020 19:31

My hospital (Kingston) are still letting partners in

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 11/04/2020 19:33

Just call them? But I very much doubt he'll be allowed.

peachypetite · 11/04/2020 19:38

Why is he getting stroppy with you? Hmm

nicolah1325 · 11/04/2020 19:59

Nice to see some on here are helpful & some are not!

Op did say be nice, she is only asking, doesn’t need the sarcastic comments saying check online, it’s not difficult! I have my scan next week and no partners allowed. There was a slip of paper in with my appointment letter stating this. Maybe if you haven’t been told they’re are not then maybe they are.
If he isn’t let’s hope things calm down by the time it’s the next scan so they can come. Good luck for your scan. I have heard of people being allowed to FaceTime during the scan x

NameChange30 · 11/04/2020 20:54

I wasn't being sarcastic at all.
It isn't difficult to check online.
Faster and easier than calling the hospital or indeed starting a thread.

Bcat999 · 11/04/2020 21:00

The hospital phoned me the day before to check if I had been coughing in the last week, and told me I must go to the appointment alone.

While I was there a man came with his partner to interpret and speak English for her, and he was sent out to his car.

BuffaloCauliflower · 11/04/2020 21:08

@NameChange30 my hospital has information up about rules for labour/caesarians online, but nothing about scans that I can find. It’s not a given. I’m going to have to ask for my scan, it’s not for 4 weeks but realistically I don’t see much changing in that time

BuffaloCauliflower · 11/04/2020 21:08

@Bcat999 did they have another interpreter for her? If not that’s a bit unfair if she can’t understand her own care

gg321 · 11/04/2020 21:15

Nothing online about my local hospital either, and can’t saying ringing a hospital at the moment is a particularly fast process, why shouldn’t she start a thread to ask #bekind

peachypetite · 11/04/2020 21:33

Each trust is going to differ so that’s why we’ve all said to get in touch with them directly.

nicolah1325 · 12/04/2020 07:39

gg321 thank you. X
