Shooting pain in crotch

I’m 37 weeks and for the last week or so, I’ve been getting the occasional shooting pain in my crotch/vagina area. I probably get one a day on average and it lasts a couple of seconds.

At my midwife appointment 5 days ago I was told the baby is head down but not engaged.

Does anyone know what this could mean?

My midwife used to call it ‘fanny daggers’ - it’s very common before the head engages - it’s the baby’s skull bashing downwards as it gets ready to engage.

Lightening crotch or fanny daggers!

Tends to mean baby’s head is engaging. I’ve had it pretty bad the last week (33 week)

Keep your legs open, mildly helps I find

Thanks! I’m not getting it very often at the moment - does it tend to get more frequent up to when the baby engages?

I had them and it doesn't always mean the head is engaged. (Just wanted to let you know as I was disappointed when my baby wasn't engaged but was having the pains).
