Baby aspirin after miscarriage?

BYHA12 · 11/04/2020 14:15

Hi so this is the first time I'm posting there..

I have had recurrent miscarriages.. just had another 2 last month and this month again at the same time! I have been referred by the docs to get checked out but the docs did mention most likely I will be given baby aspirin to help..
unfortunately due to everything going on at the moment my appointment was cancelled which is really annoying as I'm ttc!

I have been looking online and people have just been taking the low dose as it's available in shops etc..
Is anyone taking it at the moment? Would it be safe for me to try it myself or would I have to wait? Any experiences or advice would be great! Thank you

Hi , that is brilliant news! Try not to be scared try to be positive, after all my miscarriages I know that’s hard but aspirin changed everything for me, my Caesarian is booked on 19th may so less than two weeks so I know how things can change. I wish you all the best and keep us informed. Sure it will all work out😊xx

LimpLettice · 06/05/2020 16:47

Another congrats and good luck from me. I had 3 consecutive losses at between 4-8 weeks, started on baby aspirin after advice from a midwife in the family and had my DS with no complications. I took it while ttc. 26 weeks now with my third and started on 75mg as soon as I found d out, wasn't ttc this time! Everything crossed it helps, it certainly won't hurt.

Eboney7 · 27/07/2020 14:17

@BYHA12 how are you going? Want to know if the aspirin is working for you! I am thinking to take it too after 2 miscarriages..
Please let me know if it is working for you! Lots of baby dust for all the mums out there ..

ellenas80 · 27/07/2020 16:39

Hi Eboney7 just wanted to give you my advice, after lots of miscarriages and an ectopic I took 150 mg aspirin a day and I am now sat with my 9 week old baby girl, try it won’t do any harm, and please never give up hope I never did and got there in the end after 4 years of trying😊wish you all the best and hope one day you too will be sat there with your baby.

BYHA12 · 27/07/2020 22:47

@Eboney7 hey! 10000% swear by 75mg of baby aspirin at night! I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby and no issues so far! I soooo believe if it wasn't for the aspirin I would definitely had miscarried again! I started to take it at night from around the time I think I ovulated and still am taking it. If you have any other questions do let me know! But like @ellenas80 said it won't do you any harm at all! X

Turns out I have factor V leiden... I took 150mg Asprin per day (in addition to the injectable blood thinner) and only had successful pregnancies after that

Lucky08 · 27/07/2020 23:13

I had 2 MC and when I found our I was pregnant for a third time I took baby asprin. Figured if nothing else at least it would reduce my risk of stroke. I'm now 37 weeks and moaning about reflux and being uncomfortable (wouldnt change it for the world really)

Eboney7 · 28/07/2020 08:10

This is fantastic new I am getting my hopes back, I heard a lot of negative things about taking aspirin but it is good to see that I have mums that actually tried and have been successful..

@Lucky08 and @BYHA12 and all mums that are on aspirin or have used it did you get any sight affect? Just want make sure and be prepared in case xx

BYHA12 · 28/07/2020 08:26

@Eboney7 they may have took a higher dosage which is only recommended by a doctor obviously the safest dosage is 75mg and nothing higher.. Iv had no side effects at all taking it x

OP posts:
Eboney7 · 28/07/2020 11:07

@BYHA12 that is great , I reckon 75mg won’t give any side affects.. so you take one everyday until full term? And do you take them before or after food? Morning or night? I was uncertain to take it but I am 100% all for it now hope it works for me!

BYHA12 · 28/07/2020 11:12

@Eboney7 I did my research on it And it's more effective to take at night just before you go bed.. I think u can take it until full term but atm I forget and I'm having it like every other day. I think earlier on its important to take every night from when you think you have ovulated.. like everyone has said there is no harm in trying in. Go for it and keep us updated x

I had recurrent miscarriages and then I went private for progesterone pessaries which worked with my daughter who is now 20 months old

Lucky08 · 28/07/2020 11:47

@Eboney7 I took 75mg daily. No acute side effects, however at around 16 weeks I had a haematoma (thought the worst). Figured it was due to my blood thinning too much so just stopped the asprin.

Eboney7 · 28/07/2020 12:42

Thank you so much ladies this discussion is giving me lots of hope, I will be going to the chemist tomorrow morning getting baby aspirin, just getting organised my self when all my bleeding settles it is almost finished .. have to track my ovulation day and start taking the baby aspirin.. just one more thing I am on Elevit is that still okay to take along with the aspirin?

I will definitely let you know how I am going along the way hope we all have full term healthy babies xx

QueSera · 28/07/2020 12:47

After 2 miscarriages I started taking low-dose aspirin on my own (found medical professionals very unhelpful) and my next pregnancy was successful. Obviously I'll never know if it helped, but personally I believe it did. Sorry for your losses OP, good luck

Eboney7 · 30/07/2020 07:31

Hey ladies just wondering is there a particular brand that you recommend for the baby aspirin? Also I can’t find 75mg as I am in Australia the lowest dose they have is 100mg! Is that still okay?
@BYHA12 @Lucky08. @LimpLettice

LimpLettice · 30/07/2020 08:07

I just bought cheap, generic baby aspirin. I think it unlikely that 100mg would be a problem but 75-81mg is standard here. You could just break the tablet and take 3/4s?

I stopped at 36 weeks btw. It can increase bleeding risk so best not to take right up to birth according to my consultant. Actually waiting for my call this morning from the hospital to go in and start my induction!

DressingGown87 · 30/07/2020 09:01

@LimpLettice good luck!

@eboney7 I’m on 150mg everyday so I take 2x75mg together. So don’t see 100mg being an issue. I’m 28weeks now, this is my 8th pregnancy, and only one to get past the early stages, I’m on Fragmin though too.

BYHA12 · 30/07/2020 09:25

@Eboney7 when I first started to take it from the shops I was only able to get ahold of 300mg ao I split it into 3 and had it like that until I could get the 75mg x

Eboney7 · 30/07/2020 10:01

@LimpLettice good luck , please update us how you go, how exciting not too long until you meet your beautiful baby!

Thanks ladies 100mg is the only one I can get in Australia, the pharmacist told me it is equivalent overseas 75mg which you cannot get in Australia, she said 100mg is very low dose ..

This is the brand she recommended..

Hope you all going well..

Baby aspirin after miscarriage?
Gylli87 · 01/08/2020 11:08

Hi @BYHA12
Congratulations on your healthy pregnancy! I had a miscarriage 3 months ago and recently found out I'm 2-3 weeks pregnant on cb digital. I have been taking folic acid with vitD by Holland and Barett since the last pregnancy, and one month of pregnacare him end her, in addition I've had acupuncture for one month and Chinese herbal meds Nuan Gong Yun Zi and Tiao Jing Cu Wan. My question is should I add any additional vitamins like pregnacare original vitamins now that I've nearly finished the him end her ones? And should I start baby aspirin if I've had just one miscarriage?
I'm sorry if my questions are silly, I'm just over thinking everything now, after experiencing a miscarriage somethings changed in me and I've become super scared :(
Xx

BYHA12 · 01/08/2020 11:46

@Gylli87 hey! Sorry about your previous miscarriage it's horrible I know! But Congrats that ur pregnant again! I mean I'm not an expert but I'm just going off my personal experience I would continue taking pregnacare original as that's really important and I don't think there is any harm in taking baby aspirin now that your between 2/3 weeks.. I have read online people take it once they get a positive test so once a night wouldn't hurt. But pregncare is very important a lot of people take it before they get pregnant but like yourself I jus had folic acid until I got my positive and then I swapped it for pregnacare original x

Gylli87 · 02/08/2020 07:36

@BYHA12 Thank you for the recommendations. I bought the Pregnacare original yesterday and will start taking them alongside the Holland&Barrett folic acid, as I still have 40 days pills left :) I did ask my acupuncture doctor her opinion of the baby aspirin. She recommended I'd stick to acupuncture, herbal meds, and pregnancy vitamins. I am already taking pregnacare, folic acid and twice a day 4 tablets of Chinese herbal remedies. I'm like a pill junkie Grin. So I'll stick to these and hope for the best. It is a difficult decision as I want to do everything in my power to keep this baby, but at the end of the day we have to listen to our heart and do what feels right Smile I just wish I could fast forward the time. Did you have any early scans to reassure everything is okay this time? Xx

Eboney7 · 02/08/2020 08:09

@Gylli87 sorry to hear what you are going through..I am in a sane bought but I am doing what my gut is telling me.. if all these mamma to be and all the mama’s that took baby aspirin had happy ending then I don see why we have to be scared...after lots of searching and googling I am very convinced now that baby aspirin won’t do any harm to us! Here is hoping happy ending for us all and lots of baby dust xx

BYHA12 · 02/08/2020 08:54

@Gylli87 yeah you do what you think is best for you. I did have an early reassurance scan at 7 weeks to make sure everything is fine.. and it was all good.. I'm now waiting for 20 weeks scan x
