Hi all,

I have really bad wisdom tooth pain and I am wondering if it is okay to take paracetamol during pregnancy? I have struggled on for 3 days but the lack of sleep is getting to me. The leaflet says speak to my GP, but with everything the NHS are dealing with I dont really want to bother them?
Does anybody know If it is safe?
Many Thanks

Yes I'm sure it's fine to take paracetamol during pregnancy. I hope it helps the pain, tooth ache is just the worst!

Paracetamol is completely safe during pregnancy - I know that for certain as I'm pregnant and recovering from ankle surgery and paracetamol is my main form of pain relief that I've been prescribed. It doesn't cross the placenta.

Codeine is also okay but I've been advised not to take my codeine tablets unless the paracetamol isn't helping.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon. X

Is it erupted at all? If you can get hold
Of a single tufted toothbrush and have a vigorous dig around under the gum flap. I used to be a dentist and when I had wisdom tooth pain, this kept it in check. The bacteria build up underneath the gum if it's partially erupted and cause the pain.

Yes it is erupted, I'll send OH out to get one later, thank you for your help

Hey!! How did you get on? I think mine is infected for the 3rd time in 6 months they've said they can cut the gum flap to stop it being infected but not sure if they'll do it now with the whole pandemic as they're only offering emergency options, however I only took antibiotics 2/3 weeks ago to treat it and now it's back, I don't want to be on antibiotics for months until they can sort it out, also don't want it removed if I can help it :( xx
