Am only 6 weeks pregnant. Just had a pedicure and they used strong peppermint lotion on my feet. Told them I was pregnant and the girl said it was safe. But can't help but worry now as I can feel tingling inside my feet and am worried its like an essential oil which I think you are supposed to avoid. Need reassurance

Some pure essential oils are best avoided - but peppermint foot lotion has probably never been anywhere near either mint or essential oils so you're OK!

The thingling is probably a tiny bit of menthol, like you'd find in your toothpaste. They put it in products to make you 'feel' it working. Nothing to worry about I'm sure.

Ahem tingling not thingling

meemar · 13/09/2007 11:49

Don't worry - I agree the amount of actual essential oil in foot lotion (if any at all) would be minimal.

aww YABD xx Try not to worry, is easy to get worried over little things when preg x

hotpotmama · 13/09/2007 12:25

Thanks for your replies, is menthol not an essential oil then? Not very up on my oils!

I am the world's biggest worrier. Just the lotion was more like mud and just bothered in case it contained oils. Not much I can do now.
