Hi all, hope youre doing well and keeping safe.

Im 11weeks today in my first pregnancy and have been holding off as long as possible because of everything with Covid-19 but im loosing the plot today. I still havent had any feedback from hospital/midwife/antenatal clinic about ANY appointments. I had tried to register with a gp local to me (hadnt long moved house) and they said they would get back in a few days. That was at the end of Feb. I rang again and they told me I wouldn't need to see a gp anyway as I can self refer to the hospital so on 13th March I did that and I havent heard anything. I have phoned numerous different numbers and the hospital themselves and cannot get hold of anyone. Does anyone have any advice as im at a total loss?
TIA Smile

Hi

I do feel you should have heard by now - do you know which NHS trust is your local one?

In my area (sussex) the GP asks you to visit a website and ‘book in’ online before they give you a scan date etc

Im in N.Ireland. i've told the gp im looking to register with that im pregnant but the receptionist didnt seem too bothered about it and was more annoyed that I didnt know I could self refer. Im at a total loose end and I feel like the only thing I can do is get my husband to go to the hospital and make them ring me as im self isolating. Not the most fantastic start to having a baby 😢

Hmm I feel you should’ve heard something . I’m on my first pregnancy too, I’m 20 weeks tomorrow but saw a midwife at my GP practice at 8 weeks pregnant, and they booked my 12 week scan there and then (I’m consultant led so not sure if that makes a difference), but the midwife just called the hospital and booked me in for 4 weeks after that. I’d definitely call the GP again and ask or have you got a number for your local midwife maybe off google ? You should be seen by now . Don’t stress though it’ll be ok x

Are there numbers of different maternity departments at the hospital? I’d call antenatal/ postnatal.. hopefully someone can give you a number for your local Midwifery team, you will have fallen through the net and the midwives will be glad you’ve phoned. xxx

Oh just seen you’re in NI, it says on here www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/antenatal-care you should let your GP know as soon as possible that you’re pregnant so you definitely did the right thing . Call them on Tuesday as it’s obviously bank holidays now but tell them you haven’t heard back and it’s causing you stress and anxiety xx

No you’re definitely not getting ahead of yourself , I’m sure they say you should see a midwife by 8 weeks and then the scan etc after , but I think you’ve sadly just slipped through the net ! I bet with everything going on they’ve somehow missed you. As long as you get seen soon it’ll be fine , some people don’t even know they’re pregnant til second trimester and don’t get seen I guess ! Huge congrats though it’s so exciting X

Csmore · 10/04/2020 18:45

I hope thats all it is and it's not a case where theyve pulled all maternity resources to the front line so people like us wont be seen. I have heard of a few examples where thats been happening 😕
This is true, myself and hub are so excited just hoping that everything is ok with the bab. Congrats to you too...halfway there!! Xx

It’s hard for you because you can’t even pay for a private scan now as everywhere is shut ! You’re doing so well I suffer from anxiety since being pregnant and I found the wait for my scan unbearable, so you’re a star!
I hope that’s not the case and that when you call them they’ll be like ‘oh sorry yes we have your referral’ ! Just a pain that you’ve got to call around xx

EimB · 10/04/2020 23:34

Hey hey, I'm also in N.Ire just to let you know GP also told me to self refer, so I done this- the hospital didn't contact me until I was at the start of my 12th week with an appointment and 12 week appointment was for when I was 13 weeks. Just a little bit of reassurance :) x
