I'm pregnant (about 6 weeks) and have slight but consistent pain on one side of my abdomen. Rang the midwife who was said because of covid they're only able to see you if you're bleeding (I'm not), and I should take paracetamol and rest. This is my first pregnancy so I don't know what's normal. I'm telling myself it's ok because the midwife didn't seem worried, but I can't stop thinking it's ectopic. Any reassurance would be welcome!

I had pain on one side and it turned out to be a corpus luteum cyst which was a cyst in one of my tubes that lets off hormones to progress the pregnancy. It disperses itself but does cause pain. Try not to worry xxx

Littlebelina · 10/04/2020 12:02

As Alviesmam said it's most likely to be a harmless cyst. Obviously if the pain gets severe or you get bleeding seek further advice but for the moment it sounds normal

I had similar it was excruciating though.
I did get seen at EPAU and all was fine. But it was scary. Now almost 23w :)

I had similar thoughts of this on my left side at around 6 weeks. Paid for an private scan due to bleeding etc and all was well. They said I had ovulated from left side and it seemed to have implanted left side... didnt even know they could see things like that!

Watch out for shoulder pain.

jdy123 · 10/04/2020 12:53

I had one sided pain and a bit of spotting at 6 weeks, I had a scan and they didn't know what it was but all was fine. 24 weeks now. Try not to panic x

Crackerscheesescabbyknees · 10/04/2020 12:58

As the pain is slight, I wouldn't worry too much.
If you find it increasing or start feeling pain in either shoulder then go to A&E.

It's normal to feel pain in one or both sides during pregnancy. In early pregnancy so much is going on you can expect to be generally uncomfortable.

Thank you all, that's really helpful.

Hiyah,

I had a ectopic which got picked up at 6 weeks, obviously everyone is different but I was bleeding so heavy I couldn't even stand, I had a very distinctive pain, hoe your okay xx

Patte · 10/04/2020 16:01

Thanks, @readmycards, I'm now pretty sure I was over-reacting. I'm so grateful to everyone who took the time to reassure me, you're all so lovely.

I had pain right sided from around week 5 to 6 and convinced myself something was wrong. Not awful just a niggling pain I couldn't get rid of. Had a scan at 6+6 and I have a right corpus luteum cyst and I'd ovulated from right ovary. Sonographer told me it was absolutely fine and google tells me it can cause some pain in early pregnancy. It only lasted about a week 😊
