If your due date was brought forward...

Was your baby late?

My original due date based off my ovulation tests (OPK strips) was 19/04/20 and my LMP suggested 20th.

My due date was brought forward when I had my dating scan.

I had a private dating scan at exactly 12 weeks and they said my EDD would change from 20/04/20 to the 16/04/20 so a difference of 3/4 days.

My traditional NHS dating scan (done at 13+5) also said my EDD would be 16/04/20.

I'm just wondering if this makes it more likely I'll go over my due date and baby will be late?

By due date was brought forward from January 7th to January 3rd. He arrived January 5th so smack bang in the middle (although waters went early hours of the 4th and he should have come that day!)

Interested to see answers to this. My due date according the the dating scan is 4th May but based on ovulation it should be 12th May.

My last one was brought forward a day, but She was born 2 days early, this time I was brought forward 3 days and we will see when she turns up!

My due date was brought forward by about 1 month ( I had irregular periods at the time so wasn't sure whether I had a period or implementation bleeding). I ended up two weeks overdue and had to be induced as baby was still not ready to come out. I'm pregnant again, was fairly sure of my timing this time but again date was brought forward by about 10 days at the scan so I am starting to wonder how reliable this is. I'm completely expecting to go overdue again.

Due date is calculated by size of baby relative to development, but other factors can affect date of birth.
In animals where we are able to look at multiple pregnancies for both males and females we know that pregnancies from some individual sires have longer or shorter pregnancies . Obviously we can't the same kind of studies, but it is fair to extrapolate that different parent combinations give different pregnancy lengths.
So take your due date as a guide and don't get hung up on whether you will be early or late

Mine was only brought forward by 1 day and I had an ELCS so don't really know when he would have come. I feel like he would have been overdue though, he was perfectly comfy and I had no signs of going into labour at all.

My due date was brought forward an entire week at my 12 week scan . My baby was born at 37+1 week and was 3.6 kilo so literally an average size , full term baby !

Delbelleber · 09/04/2020 21:29

With my first my due date was brought forward by 3 days and he was 11 days late. I don't think the due is particularly accurate.

FireflyGirl · 09/04/2020 21:54

My EDD was brought forward by a week at my dating scan, DS arrived 2 weeks earlier than my new EDD.

So, the first isn't always late, and a sooner EDD doesn't mean they'lll be late. They come when they feel like it Wink

screwcovid19 · 09/04/2020 23:43

With ds my calculation was 28th July, early private scan said 28th July. Nhs scan said 23rd July. He was born 31st.
