Furlough and maternity pay

Hi!

Does anybody know if my value of my salary in the qualifying weeks will effect the 90% pay for the first 6 weeks?

I have a call with HR to discuss everything later today but I want my ducks in a row before I take the call.

My salary has been put to 80% and I'm 22+5 today, but when they come to calculate my SMP will I get 90% of contracted salary or 90% of the current 80%?

It's the actual salary in weeks 17-25ish of pregnancy that is used for the calculation of the 90% part of maternity pay

From what I've been told it will be the 90% of the 80%. I got hit with it in my last 2 qualifying weeks.

Oh bloody hell! So not only can we not save/reduce savings because of 20% already being taken but then it's going to cock up for the future too!

Time to be very very nice to my HR dept 😅

It's based in the average of 7/8 weeks so if you've earned over the threshold for the first 5 weeks or so then it may balance out. I think its £118per week? So say you get £150 per week the extra 30 could bump up the last few weeks if that makes sense? Instead of £118 per week its £944 over 8 weeks

Ah fair enough, I've just had a chat with work and they're paying me furlough but 100% until I'm out of my qualifying weeks, it was their idea which is lovely so I guess I worried about nothing.

Ah that's good that they will pay you 100% until those qualifying weeks are over
