Hello everyone,

I found out I was pregnant 2 days ago and I’m about 6/7 weeks. I am so scared as I found something that said that women with PCOS are 3 times as likely to miscarry. I’m just looking for my mind to be put at ease and maybe some advice. Being pregnant is a complete shock to me but I am really am so pleased! I woke up feeling “normal” today and now I’m worried. Thank you!

Hi, congratulations! :)
I also have pcos but never had any symptoms or problems apart from face acne, I put that down to how fit and healthy I am.
I feel pregnant last year and did indeed have a miscarriage but unsure of the reasons why. I also read pcos can be a factor of miscarriage.
I lost all my symptoms completely and found out I had lost the baby weeks later but even with this pregnancy I've also had no symptoms so it doesnt mean it is a sign of anything either.
I am now 36+5 with my second pregnancy so it can happen!
Try to relax as you could be a lucky one with no symptoms, theres lot of women who have none!

@ejmay90 thank you for replying. I get a really bad beard on my neck and chin Grin but other than that I am usually fine. I’ve been lucky to have regular periods the last couple of years! I’m hoping everything will be okay, I really am just so worried. Thank you Smile

I get a lot on my cheeks but as you I'm fine otherwise. My periods have always been regular too.
I fully understand as when I read that I did panic but I feel the healthier and fitter you are the less symptoms you have from pcos and in term help pregnancy. I definitely believe how fit I was before pregnancy has made me have a very smooth sympyom free pregnancy so far!
Good luck x

Thank you so much you’ve really put my mind at ease. I’m also mostly fit and healthy. The last couple of days I’ve not really had many symptoms so I think I’m just panicking. I just can’t wait until the first scan so I can relax a bit more!

Hi
I have pcos and have 2 children as well as currently 15 weeks pregnant. I had so little symptoms with this pregnancy I didn't know until I was over 10 weeks (the joy of irregular periods ).
We did unfortunately have 3 losses between dd and ds but the cause it's unknown. Ds was a Clomid baby too and I had every symptom possible.
With this one I actually forget I'm pregnant way more than i should.
Congratulations

Pcosandpregnant · 09/04/2020 13:10

I’m sorry to hear about your losses. I just want to get through the next 5 weeks without much worry! I never thought this would happen to me, it was unplanned and I’m not sure how it happened Grin so I think I’m still in shock. But I really am so happy and I just want everything to be okay. Did you have to have extra monitoring throughout your pregnancies because of pcos?

29 weeks here with PCOS. It's not super bad but it did make my periods a bit wonky and I get the odd dark hairs, that and I am overweight, but I eat too much too 😛 Baby is still here and chugging away, so try not to worry!

Pcosandpregnant · 09/04/2020 15:55

@Emberfoot that made me laugh! Thank you for replying. I’m just such an anxious person and 3 days ago I had no worries other than my periods stopping Grin has everything been fine so far with your pregnancy? Do you know what you’re having?

Goldenmother · 09/04/2020 16:17

@Emberfoot yes we are excited and looking forward to our arrival

mistletoeprickles · 09/04/2020 16:31

Yes @Pcosandpregnant I did have extra monitoring. In both previous pregnancy I had the glucose tolerance testing because we are at an increased risk of developing gestational diabetes. I did develop it in my second pregnancy and I'm pretty sure I will be with this one too.
My first was plain sailing and I had a natural labour and delivery.
Consider a private scan if you want some reassurance

Jj2431 · 09/04/2020 16:55

Hi. I have pcos and have conceived 2 children naturally since. One is now almost 7 and healthy and I'm currently almost 21 weeks pregnant with another :)

Jj2431 · 09/04/2020 16:56

Altogether I'll have 3 children naturally if this pregnancy continues to go well :)

Jj2431 · 09/04/2020 16:57

No MC this far. Fingers crossed, touched wood etc I feel blessed. It can be okay x

Pcosandpregnant · 09/04/2020 19:57

@mistletoeprickles I will definitely think about the private scan. I am so grateful I didn’t find out until 7 weeks I can only imagine what I would have been like if I found out sooner! @Jj2431 I am so pleased to hear that! I haven’t really been sleeping well and I’ve just had a really long nap and I have woken up feeling much better about everything. Thank you so much everyone you really have helped me so much.

I have PCOS (no symptoms but ovaries are a disaster apparently!) and needed IVF but for a different condition. Pregnant now - to be honest PCOS hasn't even been mentioned this pregnancy, I wonder whether that's because I have so much else going on.

Definitely recommend an early scan.

mistletoeprickles · 09/04/2020 20:55

@Pcosandpregnant another reason to consider a private scan is due to covid many hospitals aren't allowing partners. When I found out I was pregnant I was send for an emergency scan (no idea on gestation) lucky DH could come with me but he wasn't even allowed in the building for my "12 week" scan

Ilovethekittehs · 09/04/2020 21:00

I have PCOS and have just put my 3.5 month old to bed.

Congratulations.

Pcosandpregnant · 09/04/2020 21:14

@October2020 oh really that’s interesting. Congratulations! I think so little is known about it it’s hard to know what to think. I did think about the private scan @mistletoeprickles but I’m just scared! I think once the midwife has called me back I will definitely look into it! @ilovethekittehs that is so lovely to hear. Thank you m.
