Hi,

Feel so stupid as it didn’t even cross my mind not to, but I was cutting grass earlier and was stood really awkwardly for a few hours, and this afternoon my back and sides have been agony!

I’ve had a hot water bottle mostly on my back but also on the side of my bump for a while to ease the pain, it wasn’t scalding hot and had a thick fluffy cover on so wasn’t touching my skin at all, but i did suddenly panic and think is this safe?? I’ve googled it and I’m of course now in a panic.

Is it okay to have used a hot water bottle? Will I have caused any harm?

I’ve used a hot water bottle every night since I was about 20 weeks, I have a cover on mine so it can’t get too hot but I don’t see an issue with it, they only don’t want you to raise your body temperature (think hot tub or sauna) a hot water bottle can’t raise your body temperature!

I used a hot water bottle daily from literally as soon as I conceived to keep me warm at work, sat on my lap most of the day.
I think like pp says, it's bad for stuff where it increases your core temperature and hot water bottles aren't big/hot enough to do this. I'm 24 weeks and all good so far 🙂

Physiotherapist told me to use hot water bottle only for the back. Not for bulb as it would overheat baby and they can't control their temperature in utero.
