Hospital Recommendation

Hello - I live in Kew and would like some help deciding on which hospital to have my first baby. My GP told me to look at the CQC reports which I did and I'm trying to decide between Chelsea & Westminster hospital or Kingston Hospital.

I am 41 years old and suffered a miscarriage last year so I'm very nervous this time around especially given the current situation with coronavirus. Any feedback on maternity services at the above hospitals would be most welcome. Thank you!

Chel west is very nice :) I was a medical student there and thought it was very clean. Plus there's the option for a private room.

I highly rate Kingston .

I got a birthing suite with a birthing pool and my own room for 3 nights after the birth ( I lost too much blood 😩). My room had its own bathroom with tub/shower. My husband was allowed to stay overnight in the room too.

They also have a great feeding team there if you want to breastfeed. There was sooooo much great support for breastfeeding. I struggled so much in the beginning and I can’t rate them enough !

There’s a boots on site and a Sainsbury’s across the road although that is probably standard for most hospitals.

I have no other experience with other hospitals though. This is just my experience in Kingston!

One other thing I should mention:

My son was born with a tongue tie . They told me immediately after he was born . He was booked into their tongue tie clinic 6 days later to be snipped.

I’ve heard so many horror stories of people going weeks and months undiagnosed or not taken seriously for tongue tie . Kingston hospital fixed it immediately.

Bloody hell Kingston sounds like a bloody 5* hotel compared to my experience! Go there!!!

I had my baby at Kingston and highly rate the care I was given bit antenatal and postnatal. He was premature and both the midwives caring for me, and the nurses/doctors in neonatal were amazing,

I also had my own room for 5 days after birth and my husband could stay there too. So glad I did as a friend also had a preemie and had to stay on a ward despite not having her baby with her (not at Kingston).

I’m more than happy to have my next baby there too
