13 weeks & brown discharge - help!

I’m 13 weeks today, I had my scan 2 days ago & all was well. This morning, there was a tiny bit of light brown discharge in my knickers and then a bit when I wiped. I went on an hour walk and when I came back there was a little bit more and kind of light brown watery when I wiped.
I’m really panicking. I can’t lose this baby. Could this be normal?

I'd phone your community midwife for advice, this has never happened to me so I can't offer any more advice sorry Smile

I had a red bleed at 9 weeks which became brown bleeding (light) for the next week or two. I'm now 17 weeks and had brown discharge again three days ago for a day and a half. Only really when I wiped and not enough for a pad. Interestingly, I realised it would have been when my period was due on. In my experience the Midwife was unconcerned with brown blood particularly as it was so light, but I don't think it'll hurt to reassure yourself by telephoning them.

I had brown discharge the evening after my scan at 12 weeks. It lasted probably for 24 hr and then nothing. Baby was absolutely fine and is now 6. The doctor said that the pressure on your uterus during the scan can sometimes cause some old blood to dislodge.
Call your midwife and try not to worry.

Was it an internal scan? This can sometimes cause (harmless) irritation and spotting.

Thank you for the replies Smile I phoned the helpline for the local EPU - it’s a walk in one she was so lovely, and reassuring, she said as I’ve only had a scan a couple of days ago and all was fine it’s very very unlikely that anything has happened and they wouldn’t bring me in for a scan just yet but if it continues I can come in next week. She said that the cervix is easily irritated and to just keep an eye on it and call back if it gets worse or changes colour or I’m worried again for any reason, incidentally it has stopped now so I’m hoping it was a one off thing.

@Prettylittlelady @Soph88 I've just had
My 12 week scan and experiencing some light brown spotting. How long did your spotting last for? My epu and midwife said to just ignore it but I'm still so concerned. Xx

Prettylittlelady · 23/04/2020 11:43

@AlviesMam Hi, it literally only lasted that morning but I was so stressed I paid for a private scan last week and all was fine, It has happened once since then, but again just at that moment and it seemed to just be discharge, currently 15+1 and all seems to be well. I do this some spotting/brown discharge can be normal but I totally understand the worry.

@Prettylittlelady thanks for your reply.
I only had my scan two days ago and all was well. The pressure from the probe was uncomfortable so not sure if that's caused this spotting. It's now just getting mixed in with my normal dishcharge so hoping it's going to stop soon. It's only when I wipe x

@AlviesMam I do the scan can cause irritation to the cervix and cause some old stuff to come out. It sounds like it very light but keep an eye on it but all should be fine x
