Pregnant with pcos

Hello everyone! I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. I think I am around 6 weeks, clear blue says 3+. I am really scared. I have PCOS and I heard that I am 3 times more likely to miscarry. This is my first ever pregnancy and I am still shocked! Can anyone give me advice? What to eat, what not to eat etc! Also what should I expect with my pcos? On Thursday Saturday and today I had a bit of brown blood when I’ve had a wee. Sorry for all the questions!

Congratulations! Flowers

I also have PCOS and I'd be more than happy to share my experience so far if it would help? I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and still can't believe it's happening! X

I'm currently 19+5, also have PCOS. I haven't really had issues relating to the PCOS in general except that at 13 weeks, I had crazy pain which turned out to be a very inflamed ovary with lots of big follicles, there was a risk of rupture/infection, but luckily it's went down on it's own. Eating right and exercise after meals is very important as with PCOS there is the increased risk of gd. But I think once you get past the hurdle of actually getting pregnant with PCOS it doesn't effect things too much.

Hey, how are you getting on? I'm also pregnant with PCOS, just over 8 weeks, so think we are similar stages?

MentholChill · 26/04/2020 10:43

I have PCOS and am 32+5 with my first baby. My pregnancy has been plain sailing so far, no issues whatsoever (hopefully that continues). I was concerned about how my hormone levels could effect the pregnancy but like @Sulkypatsy said (and my GP confirmed), the biggest hurdle is actually conceiving.

I haven't eaten a special diet or anything and all of my scans, blood tests, BP readings and urine tests have been absolutely fine. Had my latest midwife appointment earlier this week and baby is measuring bang on what he should be with a good healthy heartbeat.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I’m 26+3 and got diagnosed with pcos only 7 months before I conceived. Have had absolutely no problems in my pregnancy yet and baby is totally healthy. Just eat healthily and take care of yourself x

Hello everyone thank you so much for answering. Feels like I wrote this so long ago now! I’ve scared myself so much from reading horrible stories right at the beginning so you honestly have no idea how relieved I am to read your replies. I’m now guessing I’m about 10 weeks tomorrow! Hard to tell as obviously I had no clue for 6/7 weeks Grin I’m just counting down the weeks until the scan although I haven’t even had a booking appointment yet! How are you all doing?

Ah you're a week ahead of me then. I'm 9 weeks on thursday. I'm doing okay, just waiting for my scan date to come through, I had my booking in appointment on friday so need my next milestone now! Have you got a date for your booking in appointment? How have your symptoms been so far?

Pcosandpregnant · 27/04/2020 20:25

Oh nice! I seem to be nauseous a lot especially when I’m hungry but I haven’t actually been sick. I have indigestion constantly though this last week or so. I did suffer with insomnia for a while but now I’m just really tired all the time. Then just the usual, sore boobs, restless legs and bloating! I also have awful food aversions and I’m a fussy eater as it is! But on the other hand I’m eating things I’ve never eaten before Grin what about you, how are you doing?

Also my doctors have been awful. I’ve been phoning them every week for 3 weeks and I’ve heard nothing back, so I haven’t got a booking appointment yet. I phoned them last week and they said I should have been told I had to self refer on line so I’ve done that so hopefully won’t be long now.

My symptoms have been so similar. Nausea when I'm feeling hungry, sore boobs and restlessness. I'm sleeping OK but don't feel like I'm getting a deep sleep, like I did in the first week or so after finding out. Some days my symptoms face, but they're then back to normal the next day!

Glad to hear you've self-referred. Sorry your doctors weren't helpful sooner, but I'm sure the midwives will be in touch soon. They might tie in your booking appointment with the scan, as you're only a couple of weeks away from it?

Pcosandpregnant · 27/04/2020 21:07

I’m the same. My symptoms are the same. They come and go but I would say since maybe Thursday they have been every day. Where as when I was earlier on some days I felt fine and panicked! I think that’s what will happen now. I’ll give them another call tomorrow and hopefully get it sorted.
