Are things possible signs of early labour? 34 weeks

Hi all,

Just wondering if I should be concerned as I've had a couple of odd things happening and I'm a FTM so no idea! 34 + 4 today.

Yesterday morning I had what I can only describe as someone had sneezed in my underwear, nothing yet today but it was quite a bit and not like discharge.
Also yesterday my bump was hard all day (it's the same today), it wasn't coming and going like with BH but it was constant. In the evening me and DP had sex, afterwards, I was awoken with pains in my back and coming across my lower stomach along with the tightening of my bump, I kept drifting off but then was woken up again with the pain, I take medication for my mental health and it's generally sedative and nothing wakes me up so I was quite concerned it could be labour pains but it seemed to relax a little come 2 am. Today bump is still hard and slight pains but nothing compared to last night! Baby is moving as normal however, I cannot stop peeing a hell of a lot more than normal.

I have been to triage before with BH thinking it was labour so I really don't want to bother them if I'm being silly and overreacting. Any experience appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like your mucus plug, I had the exact same experience. Lost my plug Tuesday night, back & bump pains in no pattern till Saturday then waters brine Saturday at 9pm and she was here 4am Sunday! It sounds like early labour to me but your plug can grow back and they can be BH. I was 37+2 when I lost my plug & had her 38 dead on. I would call your midwife and explain your symptoms as you're still preterm. Good luck!

Sounds like early labour to me. A lot of what you're saying was me when DS arrived at 35 weeks.

The tightening, the back pain and the peeing was what I had. Was literally int he toilet every five minutes!

Things started for me during the night but I didn't think it could be time. Went to work the next day and did a full day. Left work early and had him an hour later!

Yep, I cannot stop peeing, I go and then 2 minutes later I need to pee again!

Thanks for the advice ladies, I will try to contact my midwife today and see what she says.

Hi OP, how are you doing?

daisy129437 · 09/04/2020 08:58

Thanks for asking @Funtcase95

I called my midwife who seemed to think it was a possible water infection and to go get checked out at the MAU because of the tightenings I was having.
Off I went and no water infection but they did an early labour swab test that came back positive, I was kept in for just over 24 hours and given steroid injections. Told I could go home then as long as I keep an eye on things and come straight back if there's any change/waters going etc.

Thank you so much for the advice!

Hopefully little one stays put a bit longer but at least now you can prepare! Good luck - pop us an update when they make their appearance!

I just came back to this thread to ask how things were going. Glad to see your update and hope the baby isn't in a rush!
