Hello all,

Just checking in on all mummy's due in May.

I'm due 22nd May with my first and it's starting to feel very very soon Shock. I'm both excited and scared in equal measure.

I've packed a huge hospital bag in case hubby isnt allowed with me in hospital and I'm nervous about how COVID19 will affect labour but otherwise trying to relax in these crazy times.

I was hoping to meet other mums to be in my parenting classes so I dont feel so alone after birth but obviously that's not happened.

Hey. I'm due the 26th but I'm having a section. I will speak to my consultant tomorrow so hoping to get a date. I'm pretty much all organised for the baby coming. I've not finished packing my hospital bag though. I have episodes of reduced movements which is worrying for me. The hospital are keeping an eye on things though. I'll be glad when he's out, can't come quick enough now. Baby number 3 for me!

Pineapplebaby · 07/04/2020 12:47

First baby for me too; due 15th May.
Bag packed and everything prepared, and started my maternity leave today! Was going to be end April but had to bring it forward to avoid being furloughed!
Same as you, excited and scared in equal measures at the moment!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 07/04/2020 12:49

I'm due 30th May & I agree it is starting to feel very soon & very real!
I'm hoping the lockdown will be softer by the time I come to go into labour but who knows. I've figured I'm not stressing myself out about something I cant change!

I have hyperemesis and I still vomit daily & have been hospitalised many of times.

Hubby is currently also locked in the upstairs bedroom as he has suspected corona, so I'm also trying not to stress about catching that!

What a time to be pregnant eh.

Schlobbob · 07/04/2020 13:12

Me! I'm due on the 19th with number 4 😃

Feeling like a hippo with aching hips and having to roll over every hour at night, but things going smoothly otherwise.

I live in central Europe but very much the same as the UK, worried DH will have to stay with the other 3 and I'll be on my own in labour, and no visits on the postnatal ward. Gutted that we won't be able to introduce baby to family for who knows how long as well.

Got lovely weather this week so I'm keeping the kids entertained in the garden and trying to relax!

Really should pack hospital bags and buy nappies soon, also should think about washing the baby clothes soon, I like that bit 😊

Take care everyone!

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 07/04/2020 13:17

Also due mid may with number 2. Trying so very hard to stay calm about everything but its hard with a key worker partner!

ThinkPink71 · 07/04/2020 14:51

Omg...you have all made me scared as I havent packed my bag yet!! Due 9th May :)

Feeling excited, trying to avoid watching the news etc and just live in a little bubble. Went for my midwife appointment today and she said my blood pressure is the best its every been so its obviously working, haha.

Like you guys, its all starting to feel very real & soon now!! xx

kittykat7210 · 07/04/2020 16:25

Due 28th May but not expecting to last that long, it’s my second, my bags been Mostly packed for weeks it’s mainly just the last few bits I need to pack and really they are dependant on the situation (I want to labour in the pool butt not sure if they are still allowing it and don’t want to take up valuable bag space with a towel/bikini top unnecessarily) also have to buy/pack snacks/drinks but not sure when/what!

Can’t wait to have little miss’s butt/feet out of my ribcage, and to be able to eat normal portions again!

Cazzy198 · 07/04/2020 17:03

@ThinkPink71 I'm an over thinker and literally cant relax if theres something that I think needs to be done so dont worry, I know I'm early to be packing. I am a little concerned that a small suitcase on wheels is a bit much for a hospital bag but i cant think of anything i could take out Confused

I am paranoid that baby will come early as I've always believed I'm a few weeks ahead of the due date they gave me based on the dates we did the deed.

@Cazzy198

Trust me a small suitcase is fine, that’s what we are taking (cabin size) it being on wheels will make it much easier especially because your husband might have to leave before you’re discharged so you will need to carry baby and any bags you have bought with you out by yourself. So a bag on wheels makes MUCH more sense that a hold-all or something similar xx

Does anyone know if we are supposed to bring our own towel for the shower? I can't remember from my last time.

kittykat7210 · 07/04/2020 17:55

@delbelleber

Yeh you are supposed to bring towel, I wouldn’t use the shower anyway, will wait until I get home like I did last time, but if you will use it take your own towel and toiletries

LatteLover12 · 07/04/2020 17:56

Yes, you'll need a towel.

My hospital makes you have a shower before they discharge you! I think it's to make sure you're safe up on your feet (and don't faint!)

Cazzy198 · 07/04/2020 17:57

@kittykat7210 good to know thanks. I didnt even think about carrying everything coming out, I was too focused on the arrival.

Karenjones100 - Did you tell your midwife about your alcohol consumption? Hopefully they can monitor you closer if they are aware but all you can really do is be honest with your midwife and drink no more alcohol going forward and definitely no weed brownies!

OK thanks. Another thing for the suit case! I also have a little case on wheels that I'm using.

kittykat7210 · 07/04/2020 18:00

@LatteLover12

So glad my hospital doesn’t have this policy! I have severe anxiety and can’t shower in other people’s showers (let alone a hospital) without having a panic attack unless I have my husband there with me to keep me calm.

Raindancer411 · 07/04/2020 18:07

I am due 19th May. Just got my new suitcase delivered and will start packing it soon. Need to wash the newborn clothes.

This is my second. Husband will be having to stay home with our first whilst I go in. Sad he will miss swing his second born but not much we can do.

LatteLover12 · 07/04/2020 18:10

Oh no @kittykat7210

They don't even let you lock the door in case you faint 😳

ThinkPink71 · 08/04/2020 12:03

Im glad the question about the case on wheel has been raised as thats what I am planning on taking so good stuff its the norm :D

Im going to do mine today along with my birth plan xx

kittykat7210 · 08/04/2020 13:56

I need to write my birth plan, just don’t know what to write because of the situation!

What snacks are people taking? I know once we are there you can’t leave the room (although not sure how husband will go to the toilet 🤷🏻‍♀️) so we’ll have to take everything, but don’t want to just take sweets!

ThinkPink71 · 09/04/2020 18:08

I was planning on- flapjacks, sweets, sugary drinks, crisps, fruit, belvitas. Might take some sandwiches to for the long haul. Any other ideas? xx

Lemonysherbet · 09/04/2020 21:16

Hey all, I'm due 30th may with my first.

Coping ok with this covid crap. Finished work this week though (well I was furloughed) so lots of time to focus on mentally preparing for the birth. I haven't packed my hospital bag yet. I've got a few bits for it but that's next week's job.

EmmaOvary · 09/04/2020 22:31

Hello ladies, jumping in too. Due 19th May, looks like a couple of you have the same due date. Feeling ok, hospital bag packed, still working on birth plan. At present, my hospital is allowing birth partners at the birth but not sure if DH would have to leave after that, as I hear that's happening in certain trusts. My next antenatal appointment (36 weeks?) is in person but I was told appointments may be over the phone as they're so stretched. That's a bit of a worry. Hope you're all bearing up in all this madness.

PrinnyPree · 09/04/2020 22:51

I'm due the 23rd of May and it's my first too! I've half packed my bag but feel a bit clueless, I just had an over shoulder bag but starting to think I should probably get my wheelie cabin bag out of the loft. Didn't even think of a towel (or a bikini top even though I was hoping water births might still be an option) so thankyou for those suggestions PPs!

Still need to buy a baby changing bag and sleeping grobags, I really wish I hadn't left some of this stuff so late and I could still shop around in some department stores and physically touch stuff, its so much more difficult buying online the price differences can be 4x as much and don't know if you're paying for quality or a brand name.
I also need maternity bras, a nursing nightie and "something to give birth in".

The maternity ward shut at my hospital so I've been moved to another hospital too so feel a bit anxious about that on top of the antenatal classes getting cancelled. Really hope things are a little bit better by May.

Sorry I know thats a bit of a ramble Blush sending loves fellow Mums!

kittykat7210 · 09/04/2020 23:05

Don’t go mad on the grobags @PrinnyPree not until baby is here! I spent a fortune on 9 beautiful grobags, determined my daughter was going to use them. I washed them all and then she wouldn’t get in them! Wouldn’t tolerate them for even 10 seconds. It was a very expensive mistake!
