Discharge?

Hi I'm 21 weeks pregnant. First pregnancy. For the past few days I've had a watery vaginal discharge which leaves a wet patch on my underwear. I can feel the fluid come out a few times a day and then I have to change my underwear.
Is this normal pregnancy discharge. It seems to have a stronger smell than normal milky discharge.
I used a panty liner to see if the fluid has any colour but it doesn't. It is clear fluid.
After doing some googling I'm worried it could be amniotic fluid leakage.

Hi OP,

An increase in discharge is totally normal but if you're worried it might be your waters then give your hospital a call for advice.

They will most likely tell you to put a pad on so you can monitor the amount. Amniotic fluid has a very particular smell (almost sweet).

Is there any chance it could be urine? Some women leak a little due to pressure from baby.

@maryd34 I've had the exact same. I'm 30+1 and had it for about 6 weeks. It leaves a big wet patch in my underwear/PJs but isn't running down my legs or anything. Mine is also clear but doesn't really have a smell and I don't feel it coming out.

I read that if it were amniotic fluid you would likely feel a gush or it would continually trickle out. I haven't sought advise about it as I know increased discharge is normal but I will mention it to my midwife at my next appointment.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I had my anomoly scan yesterday and everything is good with the baby. I'm having a little boy.

I spoke to the midwife and consultant about the discharge. She used a speculum to examine my cervix and vagina but she said she couldn't see any discharge. They took a swab to test for infection such as thrush and that is sent off.

They said the fluid around the baby was fine so hopefully it's just increased discharge. They said to keep an eye on it and if I'm still worried to contact them again.
