Mirena pregnancy

Has anyone got pregnant on the mirena coil? I’ve had it in place since June 2019. Monthly periods just lighter then they where, I’m currently cycle day 45 Shock with terrible acid reflux (weirdly the first symptom of my last 2 pregnancies), sore boobs, I’m crabby,
Exhausted and has a dodgy stomach for about 2 weeks on and off. I know this can all be linked to the mirena but I’m starting to worry a little now 😂 I’ve ordered a test on amazon!

Anyone had similar?

My eldest daughter became pregnant with a Mirena in place. Unfortunately, it was an ectopic pregnancy and required emergency surgery. She had no idea there was an issue until she began having terrible abdominal pain.

I’m probably just been paranoid, sorry to hear about your daughters experience x

No personal experience from me but my grandma got pregnant three times on the coil 😂 one of which was my twin aunties ! So it’s possible but I think it’s less common now than it was in the 70’s but definitely take the test and let us know.
I had the Mirena and had two pregnancy scares over about 4 years but was told it is very rare really ! Like less than 1% I’m sure they said ! X

I’ve had 2 close friends get pregnant on it too which freaks me out 😂 god help me 🤦🏼‍♀️ I hope this amazon guy hurries up 😂

It’s possible to get pregnant on Mirena but it is very rare (and much less likely than with an older style copper coil). Many women stop having periods altogether on Mirena so statistically this is the more likely explanation but you’ll need to POAS to know for sure. Hope you get the outcome that you want 🤞🏻

Emma - how did you get on? I'm in a similar position and waiting on a test to arrive today from Amazon! ha! Had coil fitted end of Jan, had fairly constant spotting, two normal (a bit lighter but otherwise on time and normal periods) then nothing this month, spotting stopped about 3 days before I was due on...I'm now 10 days late! DTD smack bang on when I would usually ovulate. Didn't have many symptoms with my other pregnancies so can't really go on that. Have just had constant, mild cramping since I was due on and very emotional. Really odd! I'm strangely hopeful that I am pregnant although practically, it would be a disaster! Grin

I think it’s quite rare to become pregnant with a more a coil fitted but nothing is foolproof.
I had 3 mirenas over 15 years, no periods and sailed through the menopause. Perhaps I was just lucky but I was really happy with the results.

I got a negative and finally had some spotting (nothing more) on day 50 🤦🏼‍♀️ Xx

A relief for you judging by your previous posts! My pain seems to be ramping up this morning so willing the test to arrive so I can rule that out and contact GP. Never had my check-up after insertion thanks to Covid and had some weird jabbing sensations last week as if coil was moving about so at the very least, it needs checking I think!

The things we go through!
