Masks for scan?

Hi I was just wondering what people were doing when they went to the hospital for their scans? My husband got me a mask and latex gloves to wear but I feel a bit silly wearing it. I just thought I'd keep sanitising and thoroughly washing my hands but now I don't know if I should wear the mask and gloves

Any else got any thoughts?

To be honest, masks don't stop you getting it, they prevent particles leaving. I.e if you cough, it protects others. Gloves, again if your changing them after every contact with stuff then great, if not your just spreading germs etc around the place on your gloves. Hand hygiene is much more affective. However it's personal preference and if that's something you want to do then do it, don't feel silly. I was at the hospital last week and although I never wore anything there was quite a few people that were. Just remember social distancing, hand hygiene and don't contact your face with your hands and I'm sure you will be fine 😊

I work in ultrasound. We should be wearing full PPE for your scan. As Chicken said if you wear gloves they pretty much need changing with every door handle you touch etc. A mask is a good idea though.

I've got same question! DH got me the kit for the next scan. The gloves I think would be useful as you can then discard them after and have cleaner hands on your way back home. I would find it easier not to touch my face with gloves on. We can totally rock it, so don't worry about looking silly.

Hi OP I went for a scan earlier, I had the first spot so there weren't many people around. I wore a mask, I thought I would feel ridiculous- but I really didn't, there was another lady in the waiting room within one on too (there were only 3 of us). gloves I decided against as you'll have to wash and sanitise your hands several times. I took some in my jeans pocket in case I had to go to the loo or something, the nurses did all the doors/ they were open so I didn't actually touch anything. I'd wear it - you'll never see those people again probably and if you get the virus, then I decided I'd be peed off I didn't wear it.

This is exactly the question I had.. my mum has been pressuring me to buy some masks to wear to my scan next week, now that I got them I am unsure if I am acting crazy.
I am in London so I wanted to wear them while I comute in the tube to the hospital, but wondering if I will look like a crazy person wearing them inside the hospital and during my appointment?

Hi everyone

Thanks for your responses, really helpful! I think I might wear the mask but leave the gloves as helpfully stated I'd have to get rid as soon as I touched a surface and it's more efficient hand sanitising and hand washing

Just thought I might be taking the piss if there is a shortage of masks for hospitals and then I'm rocking up with one! Lol

I do want to make sure I'm keeping myself as safe as possible
