How long did bleeding last?

Hi

I suffered a miscarriage two weeks ago and the bleeding slowed down a lot the end of last week to the point it had almost stopped but then over the weekend it came on a bit more again. Woke up this morning with period pains and then in the last hour or two the bleeding has come on really heavy, heavier than it's been for over a week, with some small clots too.

I had a second scan today and the pregnancy had passed but they said the bleeding would still be on and off, just wasn't expecting it to be heavy again.

I was supposed to be going back to work tomorrow night, I'm frontline NHS so I want to go back, I feel emotionally fine to be there but with how the bleeding has been this evening I couldn't be there. I just feel so guilty that my colleagues are going through everything at work and I'm just sitting at home. We're a good team and I just want to be there with them.

Just wondering really, if any of you have experienced this, how long your bleeding lasted and if it was similar in that it almost stopped and then suddenly started heavy with clots again.

Thank you

Maximum two weeks id say. And no I think once I’d passed a few clots it just eased off. Every person is different though. We focus on the physical but forget the emotional. I know it’s hard but rest. You are going through something that is traumatic to you and your body. It needs to heal. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Recover, then go back when you are at your best.

It lasted a max 2 weeks for me but it did come and go, I'd have a day of nothing and then I'd stand up and all of a sudden more would gush out so it was a bit all or nothing. I'd be a bit alarmed that your passing clots at the 2 week stage bit did you say that a scan confirmed that you had passed everything? Just keen an eye out for any signs of infection as that can suggest their is tissue retained. Hopefully it'll ease for you soon xx

2.5 weeks for me (bleeding started at at 7.5 weeks)

Please be aware you may need iron supplements?

I was very low on iron after mine, and had a minor car accident that week. I thought I was recovered but I was exhausted and anaemic and overwhelmed.

Take some extra time off if you possibly can, to be sure?

Best wishes x

Yeah the scan confirmed it had passed but the sonographer said there was some damage still which would be why I'm still bleeding.
It's eased off again, just some normal period cramping now, it was just for a couple of hours last night so hopefully that will be the last of the heavy bleeding.

I hadn't thought about iron supplements, I've had to have them before so I might need them again, thank you. I do feel quite tired but then I've got a one year old and a three year old so just assumed that was why.

That's true about focusing on the physical and not the emotional, I feel okay about it so I am worried that it will hit me later. What with the bleeding and cramping and then all the worry going on at the moment I haven't really thought about it if that makes sense.

I've called in sick for tonight and not in until the weekend now so I'll see how things go.

Thank you x
