I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow will she check my cervix to see if anything is happening yet ? It's my 2nd baby but I honestly dont remember with my first as it was 4yrs ago, or will she be able to tell me how engaged the baby is ?

Not until 40 weeks in this area, unless a consultant has advised a sweep earlier

@bookgirl1982 I dont want a sweep just wondered if they check cervix as I know I cant have sweep until 41 weeks with my 2nd I just remember last time them telling me how engaged baby was but cant remember when or how they checked this x

I was told how engaged I was just through feeling how much of the head was in/out the pelvis through your stomach. No cervix check until a sweep on or after due date x

I wasn't checked and she didn't tell me anything about how engaged he is. Tbh the appointment was a really quick heart rate, BP and urine check and out. Things havw changed so much over the past few weeks in terms. Of appointments! Good luck OP!

@Mummyspider27 thank you hopefully then they do this tomorrow, I didnt make it to due date appointment last time as I went I to labour on my due date before the appointment I just remembered them telling me how engaged I was the week before but as you said this is done by touching pelvis am keen for baby to come so hoping he is engaged tomorrow xx

I don’t think so. I’ve never had mine checked at 38 weeks. Only if your due / over due and have a sweep

The midwife should be able to tell you how engaged the little ones head is, by an external abdominal palpation xx
