Has anyone else had thrush in first trimester I'm 10+4 and it's torturing me? But I'm petrified to have any form of medication incase it does something to my pregnancy.

I did and you can safely use canesten pessary, you just can't use the applicator just your fingers to insert.

Just ask at the pharmacy and they will be able to explain and sell over the counter, i didn't need to see dr.

Its such an uncomfortable thing, hope it clears up soon for you

I'm 32 weeks and had thrush really badly a couple of weeks or so ago. It took two pessaries and lots of the cream to clear it up but it's all sorted now. The only thing you can't take in pregnancy is the oral tablet. Hope you feel better soon, it can be really painful x

I have this at the moment. It’s driving me crazy!!! I’ve been using the canesten cream for 3 days which is taking away the burning and itching for a few hours then it’s back! So I assume it’s not working for me. I’m going to have to get the pessary but don’t want to go out to the pharmacy at the moment Sad
Apparently it’s very common in pregnancy speak to the pharmacist if you can and see what you can take x

Thanks everyone! I'll give it ago. I've been using the cream too but no luck. Gong to try the natural yoghurt to sooth the itch until tomorrow when I go to the pharmacy. The joys of pregnancy eh! Xxx

I’m going to give natural yoghurt a go too, good idea as I haven’t got much cream left. Might order the canesten Pessary online I am too exhausted to drag myself out at the moment. Hope it works for you!! X

I got it two weeks before I was due.i had never had it before so it took a while before I caught in but midwife confirmed it. Gave me a pessary. Thank god I found out in time. It literally cleared up a week before I gave birth. The pessary is a pain to put in but it really works

Danielle95lab · 05/04/2020 18:09

@Aly92 thank you! I used the pessary when I was trying to conceive, hate the the thing. But needs must. I was just worried it might do something to the pregnancy cause it's still early days xx
