Eggplant(aubergine) During Pregnancy?

Hi all. I love aubergine and i used to make baba ghanoush very often. I find it absolutely delicious and used to eat a small bowl with crusty bread. But since i felt pregnant i research everything before i eat it and found so many divided opinions. In india they believe that it could trigger an abortion. I've never heard anything of this until now and i am scared to have any. I know it's a very popular dish in the Mediterranean area so curious if anyone from that part of the world has heard anything like it?

Never heard of any pregnancy related risks with aubergine. Eat away!

Aubergine is my favourite vegetable (with spinach)and I eat it on a weekly basis. I'm never had any issues. I'm from the south of France, we eat aubergine all the time in the summer and ive never heard it was bad during pregnancy

I was the most crazy anxious person during pregnancy, and I never heard of this, abd regularly ate aubergine. It's not on NHS literature, ignore. And stick to NHS website if you can, all the correct restrictions are there and you can trust it. Congratulations and best of luck.

Fine but like everything have it in moderation.

I was pregnant both times while living in Cyprus- I can assure you pregnant women happily eat moussaka and they are among the most health paranoid nations in the world

Please ignore OP.
I'm originally from India and anything and everything can be prohibited in pregnancy thanks to old wives tales. The list can be never ending...
Best to stick to NHS advice. And congratulations! Smile

Holly, if OP's anxiety is like mine, she'll be wondering and I am too is your post suggesting too much is an issue?! Maybe it's like pineapple OP, it helps things along when baby is ready - I ate plenty during pregnancy despite it being, alongside curry, sex etc, some thing known to get things moving.

Oh ladies, thank u so much. I am so anxious about everything i eat because it took us years to get pregnant. i am OTT with everything now. 🙈
