Spotting/Incompetent cervix

Hi All,

I hope you're all keeping well in these nerve wracking times.

I know my subject is a very common one, but my situation is quite complex. I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and spotting when I wipe. It's usually more of a morning when I'm standing up I can feel discharge/mucus of a deep pink/red/brown. I have no cramps and I'm not soaking a pad.

Last August I went into premature labour at 22+3 and my daughter survived for 10 weeks in Neonatal and passed away following complications of heart surgery.

My reason for preterm labour is my cervix. In 2017 I had a LLETZ procedure which was quite invasive and deep. I did attend hospital on every occasion I spotted, yet wasn't given a cervical stitch to save my pregnancy.

I'm receiving counselling but my main focus is my current pregnancy and the anxiety that comes with it. I had severe sickness and nausea from week 6 and about 4 days ago I started cyclizine, 2 a day that has stopped my nausea and sickness which actually worries me a little.

I've been referred to fetal medicine/preterm labour clinic and I'm awaiting my appointment. I had a private scan on 6+2 and could see viability with a heartbeat - this gives me the relief I need but my spotting everyday is really getting on top of me.

I'm wondering if anyone has been through anything similar? It's worth mentioning I have a cyst in my right ovary which the sonographer on my private scan said appears to be just fluid - the more common type and I have no pain either. Could the discharge be from the cyst which has potentially burst?

Sorry for a complicated post, I'm apprehensive with hospitals because of Covid-19 so I'm seeking advice where possible.

Thanks, Louise
