I'm not sure what to do. I am 6 weeks and feel like my boobs will keep growing so I don't want to spend a bomb buying new bras. My current bras aren't fitting me as well and also with my sore nipples they're an agony to wear. I'm currently resorting to bralettes which are easier on the nipples and I like there's no band digging in but its not giving me the desired support so my back is in pain as a result. Help ladies? Any maternity bra style the best to go with. I want both comfort and support right now.

I switched to sports bras at about 5 weeks as my boobs went up two cup sizes!

Teacaketotty · 04/04/2020 00:05

I second the sports bra, so comfy and will grow with you - also great for post partum once milk comes in, man it hurts you will not want a proper bra.

I got a new bra with no underwire at about 8-9 weeks (already have stretch marks on my boobs).

I went to m&s and the lady I spoke to said I probably shouldn’t look at maternity bras straight away as if they’re growing a lot already you don’t want to waist money on a maternity bra just yet as the likelihood is that they will get even bigger if they are already growing rapidly in early pregnancy.

She recommended this t shirt bra to me: www.marksandspencer.com/sumptuously-soft-full-cup-t-shirt-bra-aa-e/p/clp22426533?color=BLACKMIX

She let me try one on and I brought it straight away as it felt so much better, and it’s done me well so far, I am a lot more comfortable now with a good amount of support (I was already an E cup, now gone to an EE) 13+4 weeks now and it is still comfortable.

My colleague is pregnant as well and she has lived in sports bras so they work as well.

I went into a feeding sports bra about 24 weeks as more comfortable I got mine at mothercare though before they closed down, there are several online bra sites that are good If you just google maternity bras xx

I bought some maternity / nursing bras from H&M at around 10 weeks. They are good as not underwired, quite cheap, and they do have good support, and you can use them when you are breastfeeding also, so good value as you can use for longer.
I bought my usual size but then found out it's good to buy the size up so e.g. if you are a 12, get a 14.
I think sports bras also sound like a good option! I have a lot of bralets already and been wearing those too. I have not worn underwire for weeks. I'm 19 weeks now. xx

Glad it’s not just me! I managed to eek it out in bralettes and soft sports bras I already had from 6-14 weeks, now 16wks. I went from about a B/C cup to D+ within that time. I also bought a couple of nursing bras from Lindex on ASOS. I don’t wear underwire usually but these have a very deep band that provides extra support plus I thought they might be useful when breastfeeding and tbh I will probably wear them after pregnancy/breastfeeding. Only about £20 for two so I don’t mind if I have to size up again in coming months.

I bought a couple of nursing bras from Primark, they're really cheap and comfy. I'm almost 30 weeks now and my boobs are no bigger than they were pre-pregnancy but my rib cage has expanded so my back is wider which made my old bras feel too tight.

Lumierecandle · 04/04/2020 10:39

I bought some cheapie underwire free soft bralettes at about nine weeks. Prior to that I had to wear a sports bra because they were too sore to withstand any impact at all.

sel2223 · 04/04/2020 11:14

I wore sports bras from about 6 weeks then got my first maternity bra at around 9 weeks.
My boobs grew very quickly and got so tender.

I m 10 weeks and have ordered 34D bras as 32D bras are already uncomfortable for me. This is my first pregnancy but I have a feeling that I m going to end up going up more sizes.

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 04/04/2020 11:29

With my first I bought a couple of Bravado maternity bras. My boobs didn't actually grow in size at all but they were really tender and those bras are super comfy! I didn't end up BF'ing but I wore them for years afterwards as they were so comfy!

This time I've decided not to BF so have just gone for a three pack of wireless bras from Amazon that were pretty cheap (Marielle 3 pack they're called, £13.99). I'm a G cup and they do the job but I'm not doing anything too strenuous! If I was going somewhere I'd probably stick a normal bra on so am considering getting a couple of Bravado pregnancy bras for public decency! Grin

I bought some new bras pretty much right away. I think I was 7 or 8 weeks pregnant . But they were nice bras , underwire and lace. My regular ones were a bit snug as soon as my boobs started to grow . Then around 20 weeks I had to get new bras again and this time I went for comfortable nursing style bras which were great for after pregnancy too.

selfisolatingsince2007 · 04/04/2020 13:23

Everyone's different but I'm 34 weeks and my breasts have not changed in cup size, but did have to buy bra extenders about 28 weeks. I have my nursing bras ready and I got some bigger cup sizes for that.

Chanel05 · 04/04/2020 13:32

I had gone up a bra size at 9 weeks and I got some non underwired ones from Primark. I'm 16+4 now and pretty sure I've gone up again!

Asianchick6693 · 04/04/2020 15:26

Thank you everyone for your helpful tips. I'll stick to sports bras for now until I need to size up.

What size are you? Measure using Boobs or Bust.
Like you my boobs grew early in pregnancy (and they were big to start with) so my normal bras became very uncomfortable very quickly.
I am wearing Sugar Candy nursing bras, they are very comfortable and reasonably supportive, and they are good for size fluctuations as they have lots of hooks on the band and flexible material in the cups. I bought mine online from Poinsettia Style.
I also have some cheap M&S non wired sports bras (that I wore in my first pregnancy) but I only wear those when the Sugar Candy bras are in the wash, as they're not as comfy or supportive.

Nfblues · 04/04/2020 15:41

I got some basic nursing bras from Asda (think 2 for £18 or something) at 7 weeks because I had really sore nipples and my boobs were agony in normal bras. They’re really comfy and are supportive enough for me (normally a 34DD), and so I’ve worn them the whole pregnancy. I got a size medium. I’m now 21 weeks and they’re slowly getting a little tight as I’m growing so plan on ordering the large size closer to the end of my pregnancy. I wasn’t keen on spending loads on expensive maternity/nursing bras that would likely not fit for long, hence why I went with Asda and tbh they’ve been amazing.
