Growth scan at 38 weeks

Just had a growth scan today at 38+1 and baby estimated weight is 7lbs 4oz at the moment.

Was sent for a scan as last 3 bump measurements were done by 3 different midwives and latest fundal height fell off the curve, turns out all OK at scan Grin

Has anyone had a growth scan at 38 weeks and what was EFW vs actual birth weight? Smile

I had one at 37 weeks and he was weighing 7lb12oz but not had him yet but I had friend who was having them as they were measuring really small was predicted 6lb 10oz came out 9lbs so can be wrong xx

I had one and it was exactly right! Went into labour a few days before I was due to be induced. He just have been ready!

I had one at 40+3 and told 8lb 9oz, keeping in mind the theory of at term they put on around half a pound per week I was told to expect a 9lber she was born a whole week later at 40+10 weighing a dinky 7lb 1oz! Completely inaccurate and had only put on a teeny amount of weight from the 36 week scan

I had scan at 39+2 and they measured him at 7lb 11oz but not had him yet to be able to report how accurate. I’ll come back and report when he arrives!

I had a growth scan at 38 weeks and they said 7.5lb... they induced her for other reasons and she was 6.9 lb so about half a pound out.

I had a scan at 36+4 which estimated weight to be 7lbs 2oz. He was born at 39w weighing 8lbs 6oz. If I remember correctly the centiles for both were pretty similar (around 75th) so probably fairly accurate scan in my case

Update:
Had my little boy at 40+8 (was induced and had EMCS) and he came out weighing 7lb1oz!
So in my case my growth scan wasn't very accurate (EFW 7lbs4oz at 38 weeks) x

My hospital does routine growth scans at 36w but my friend who is a midwife there rolled her eyes when I said ‘isn’t it great I get 3 scans as standard in this trust’ and said they’re generally totally useless for weight predictions (although useful for baby’s position and other things for birth). I’m trying to take the view that I’ll get whatever size baby I get and I’ll try not to panic if they say he/she’s going to be huge Confused Grin
