Hi! New to this... social isolation is driving me mad and thought it would be nice to chat to some other expectant mummies. Anyone else due in July? How are you all finding pregnancy/social distancing?

Iam due on the 19th July I’m worried as our hospital not letting partners to growth scan and when baby comes only allowed to stay for 90 mins I’m planning to have elected c section x

Shmabel · 04/04/2020 12:45

I guess it seems you're later than average to feel kicks @Birdy1991, but I don't think you're at a stage where you definitely should be feeling clear kicks. They say 16-24 weeks for a reason and that's an average (lots of women feel it earlier so I bet there are women later too). Mine really did go from nothing to clear kicks in one or two days, so try not to panic. Everything was okay at your scan so it's most likely everything is okay now, especially seeing as though you have no signs of problems.

Shmabel · 04/04/2020 12:48

I feel really lucky that my partner and I were able to go together to our scan. A few weeks later and we wouldn't. Such a shame for couples missing out.

I'm supposed to have growth scans too (only because it's an IVF baby). I'm wondering if they'll still go ahead as they're only precaution

Mummyspider27 · 04/04/2020 12:51

I was also able to have my husband as my scan as it happened before lockdown. This is also an IVF pregnancy, meant to have scans at 32 and 36 weeks. Have been told the 32 will likely be cancelled and 36 will definitely go ahead. If there is any concerns they will put the 32 week one back in x

Shmabel · 04/04/2020 12:57

@Mummyspider27
Oh maybe mine will be the same then (though it does seem different places do different things!) I'm not too concerned about the growth scans. Always nice to see my boy, but I guess I don't expect there to be a problem.

Congrats on your IVF pregnancy! I was just thinking of all the poor ladies who will have their treatment postponed until God knows when. Even though this situation isn't ideal for being pregnant, I'm counting my blessings!

Birdy1991 · 04/04/2020 13:05

@Izabela86 - I'm going out for one walk a day, usually along Brighton beach! Whereabouts in London do you live? Does someone go with you?

I feel you with being anxious! I have an extra scan at 32 weeks as I have a low-lying placenta... not sure if it would go ahead but I think it's pretty important to check it's moved. Fingers crossed for your scan too! Smile

Hi everyone, I'm due 26th July with still my second and it's a little boy !! It's tough at the moment I think the not knowing what's going to happen by then that makes it worse for me

Bakes27 · 04/04/2020 13:36

Hi everyone Due 27th July! Not had next weeks appointment cancelled yet so fingers crossed still going ahead!Grin

Mummyspider27 · 04/04/2020 14:10

@Shmabel I know, read about cancelled cycles, imagining waiting months, building yourself up to start and then it’s cancelled. Would be heartbreaking x

Izabela86 · 05/04/2020 14:21

@Birdy1991 how lovely! I’d love to live in Brighton, you’re one lucky girl! We live in Clapham in south London so it’s nice with the common outside the door but I only leave for a walk when it’s dark! My boyfriend always comes with me. Fingers crossed our scans will go ahead and are all fine! Have you started preparing the nursery yet? I haven’t bought anything 😳 Planning to do some bits this afternoon!

Violet4321 · 07/04/2020 19:39

Hey ladies!

I’m due 14th July with my 2nd baby, currently haven’t had any appointments cancelled but have heard about the new rules re: labour & birthing partners. Also heard that epidurals are far from guaranteed as the anesthesiologists are elsewhere. Its making me consider a home birth if at all possible. Anyone else been thinking about it as an option?
Hopefully things will be a little better by July.

em90792 · 07/04/2020 20:35

@Caitlin2020 me too, I'm due 10th and will be a week early ( I asume - hospital doesnt book date till days before! ) for c-section. Super anxious about things changing and being alone! Fingers crossed that doesnt happen!

Rhiandrath · 07/04/2020 20:56

Hello! I'm due on 24th July with my first baby. He is kicking like crazy and I can see the kicks even without resting my hand. Feeling a little apprehensive about how the hospitals will be for the birth xx

Courtney2020 · 07/04/2020 22:08

@AnnaC2020 I’m also due the 22nd of July with a little boy!! I’ve pretty much got everything in and been super organised which I never am just need his cot so just been spending my time keeping busy with organising and starting to nest very early as there’s not much else to do

Ellewellynelly · 07/04/2020 22:38

Hi! I am due 28th July and having a boy! Any of you had your whooping cough vaccine yet? My GP have cancelled my appointment and midwife is not being very helpful. Not sure what to do. Also need anti-d. So stressed with all these appointments- really wish they could combine some of them. Anyway, hope you are all well x

Shmabel · 07/04/2020 22:58

@Ellewellynelly

I had mine at about 18 weeks. Midwife said to wait until after 20 weeks scan, but that's literally only because some women will blame the vaccine if there's something wrong on the scan. I'm glad I didn't wait now. When can you get it? Seems quite important.

Shmabel · 07/04/2020 23:07

@violet4321

I know locally they've closed the birthing centres and they're not offering homebirth during Covid. So everyone has to go the hospital just when it's where nobody wants to be. Might be different by July of course, and might be different where you are. I have to have mine at hospital anyway just because it's an IVF pregnancy, but would prefer a birthing centre in a pool. As long as baby is safe though, it doesn't matter.

MrsJaneyp · 08/04/2020 02:56

Hi everyone I'm due on the 18th July. First time mum and also have an anterior placenta
@birdy1991 I didn't feel any kicks or movements until 23+3 I also phoned triage because it was freaking me out and they had a listen in

They say to call at 24 weeks if you've not felt anything
Once she started to kick and move she has just got stronger daily

I was however in hindsight also thinking some movements earlier were wind.

I find laying on my left side after a drinking a glass of really cold water normally triggers her to move

In terms of appts my appts have all gone ahead however my midwife did say she is now doing booking and 16 week appts over the phone. Hospital appts where necessary are still going ahead but you have to go on your own. Partners are not allowed

It's a really strange and anxious time.

Hope you are all keeping safe and well

Jane x x

Mummyspider27 · 08/04/2020 07:40

@Ellewellynelly I had mine yesterday. I am surprised they cancelled yours, I would chase it up xx

Ellewellynelly · 08/04/2020 08:33

@Shmabel @mummyspider27
Midwife said she is not trained to administer it and GP are not letting anyone into surgery. I rang a few private clinics, one in St Albans, but didn't realise it would be so expensive- £110! I was expecting £7 like the flu jab! I will have to email the midwife again as I feel they need to make some sort of arrangements for me to get it done.

Anyone else getting the glucose tolerance test?

I have a posterior placenta and felt him move around 20 weeks.

WeeScottishWife · 08/04/2020 08:59

Hi everyone, I'm due on July 30th! You might be interested in the July thread under 'birth clubs' - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/birth_clubs/3767650-july-2020-thread-2

I've just started to be able to see when baby kicks/moves her hands. It's funny, that's one of the things that before I got pregnant, I thought would be really creepy and freak me out a lot, but now it's actually happening I think it's pretty cool!

Hollielouise · 08/04/2020 09:07

Hello everyone! I'm due 29th July with a baby boy! I also have an anterior placenta but have started feeling (and seeing) his kicks for a few weeks now.
I had my whooping cough the day before lockdown but would definitely call to check with your midwife - you can have it all the way until the day before labour starts so plenty of time.
Im in London and all midwife apps are going ahead in person from 28 weeks - I have a consultant appointment today Over the phone and GP appointment in person tomorrow.
Just really hoping lockdown is lifted slightly by July and birth partners can stay after baby arrives 🙇🏼‍♀️

erised · 08/04/2020 11:17

Baby girl due July 20th. I have a low lying lateral placenta so really hoping my 32 week scan doesn't get cancelled. My 26 week appointment has been cancelled and will be over the phone today.

Been in isolation for 2 weeks now and feeling very down about the whole situation. :(

Shmabel · 08/04/2020 13:33

Oh wow, @Ellewellynelly, you shouldn't have to pay anything. Have you asked your GP what they expect you to do? I understand some services have to be amended and I think some problems will fall through the cracks, but surely going without a vaccine is too risky. Hope someone can sort this for you.

I have my glucose test next week. Not been cancelled yet (but I haven't called to check or anything).

@erised so sorry you're feeling down Flowers The whole lockdown and lack of support is pretty crappy, but we've just got to be hopeful that by the time July comes around, things have improved. I hope your 32 weeks scan isn't cancelled.

Birdy1991 · 08/04/2020 14:12

@erised I have a low lying placenta and a 32 week scan too - I don’t think they will cancel these scans because they need to check that one the placenta has moved.

I’m with you on feeling anxious, I should have my 25 week appointment soon and not sure if it’ll be phone or face to face Sad
