Hurts to breathe deeply and back pain

Hi Everyone,

I've had an issue for the past week or so whereby when I try to take a deep breath it hurts my lungs, I've also been suffering with really bad upper back pain and wondered if this could be connected? Currently 30 weeks pregnant, I would book a doctors appointment but all the surgeries are closed now! Not sure whether to contact the midwife team or not as wasn't sure if this was a common symptom...

Thanks

Chloe

I have this too! No idea where from, I have an OB appointment next week so can update with what they say?! Until then I'm using multiple pillows to position myself to actually be able to sleep at night.

Pain on taking a breath sounds like possible pleurisy. Don’t just assume it’s COVID. It could be bacterial and needing antibiotics.

This could be a normal pregnancy symptom. Organs are pushed up during the later stages of pregnancy, courtesy of your growing uterus. It can cause shortness of breath and discomfort.

However, it also has the possibility of being a serious health problem.

Please contact your midwife team immediately and let them decide how to proceed.
