Hello

I am turning to mums net for some advice and reassurance during this time as due to the issues with Covid 19 the hospital are unable to provide the support needed.

I am currently around 6 weeks pregnant. It is my first pregnancy. I am high risk due to having Lupus a condition which affects my immune system. I was booked in for an early scan which I had last Monday. The scan showed I was around 5 weeks with the baby developing in the uterus. After the scan I started with some brown spotting which has progressed to period like bleeding. I had another scan a week later which showed that there was development in the baby but no heartbeat yet visible. Following this scan the bleeding has continued with some cramping. Due to the circumstances at the moment with the Coronavirus the hospital are not rescanning and have told me just to wait until my first midwife appointment in 3 weeks and there is nothing more they can do. I am going out of my mind. Any advice positive or negative outcomes would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I am about 11 weeks pg and have bled throughout this pregnancy. Sometimes just brown blood sometimes huge gushes of bright red blood. Multiple hospital admissions due to blood loss. Baby still absolutely fine as of my scan last week.

It is terrifying to bleed when pregnant but every single time I've gone in sure I've lost my baby it's been ticking away happily. I have my 12 week scan next week so will see then but so far so good. I hope that is at least a little reassuring.

Private scan clinics are still scanning. We've had two - about £90 a time.

Thank you I was reassured yesterday when I saw there was development but it is just such a worrying time.

Great thank you I will look into this. As this is my first time being pregnant I feel like I'm going through this blind and that due to the current situation the hospitals are not able to provide the support they usually would.

It is horribly worrying. I've also had no pg symptoms at all so don't 'feel' pregnant which is a bit scary. But baby has been fine on the screen every time.

I forgot to say I started bleeding around my usual time of the month as well dont know If this makes anything more positive?

I bled from around week 4 to 11, some brown some bright red. No reason for it but am now heading in to my 20th week.

You could pay for a private scan.

Not sure where you are based but some hospitals have emergency early pregnancy walk in clinics, could search for one of them.

Thanks Michelle I had a scan at my local epu yesterday and they said there had been development in the baby since my scan the week before however they are not rescanning in two weeks like they normally would due to coronavirus. I have found a private clinic near me that is still open so may book in for a scan next week depending on how this pans out.
Thanks for the reply

I’m having the same issue. I’ve had really bad constipation and (excuse tmi) have experienced spotting on two occasions after straining. It happened the first time on Sunday and I had a scan yesterday showing that I’m approx 6 weeks +6 and then I’ve had spotting again today but slightly more. I’m really worried as I had a miscarriage in 2018. I don’t know if I should be worried even though the doctor who did the scan said not to be. I don’t know whether it would be worth ringing the EPU again in the morning? I haven’t had any contact from the midwives yet.

I had bleeding in my first pregnancy, also at around 6 weeks and it was very very heavy. Came on all of a sudden, Soaked a maxi pad in an hour then stopped. No cramping or pain. Midwife at the time advised bleeding wasnt a worry unless there was any pain (not sure this is accurate I’m not a medical professional) I waited a week to be scanned, 100%convinced the baby was gone, and everything was fine. I bled after sex all the way through that pregnancy too.

Second time around no bleeding at all, but I had a few private scans as I was so paranoid.
This is such a worrying time to be pregnant anyway, and the waiting and wondering is awful. Fingers crossed for you!

Just wanted to come back on and say thank you to everyone for your support. It was unfortunately not a good ending for me but must just have not been the right time for me. Will be trying again as soon as possible. Thanks again x

I'm sorry it wasn't a happy ending for you. Look after yourself xx
