Weight gain in pregnancy

Hi all Smile I looked and couldn’t find a recent threat like this one so opened a new one.

I was wondering how many weeks you mammas are and how much weight you have put on so far? Hope this isn’t inappropriate.. completely up to you wether you want to answer or not 😀

I read that woman put on 10-12,5kg by the end of the pregnancy Shock I’ve already put 9 kg on and only 29 weeks pregnant. Even people are saying that my bump is small...

Bit confused now...

I put on about 4-5 stone with each baby. Not helped by hyperemesis, I always end up on medication and eating carbs which I throw up and I get heartburn so eat more carbs then I get put on steroids so I like weight on despite being sick for the whole duration
Luckily with bf it does come off easily after

WeeScottishWife · 31/03/2020 20:58

I'd been very gradual, not much change, until the last couple of weeks & now it seems to be adding up a bit. I'm 22+5 today and have put on a little under 1 stone I think since starting out.

Babyshine2020 · 31/03/2020 21:00

So I'm 21+3 and since my booking appointment I've put on 2.9kg but I'm expecting this to rapidly increase in the next few weeks!

kittykat7210 · 31/03/2020 21:01

I’m 32 weeks and up 3lbs, but I had horrible sickness and now baby stops me feeling hungry/makes me feel full quickly so I force myself to eat but still only make it to about 1500-1700 calories a day

sassenach84 · 31/03/2020 21:11

26 weeks and put on 7kg so far. Last pregnancy was 11kg in total

Nelbert19 · 31/03/2020 22:25

23 weeks and 12lbs here - had hyperemesis for the first 16 weeks though, so I’m gaining weight pretty quickly now 😬

20viona · 31/03/2020 22:29

I gained about 1.5 stone at Most. Was back in my jeans 4 days after giving birth.

JuneBaby20 · 01/04/2020 19:43

Thanks for the replies! Really interesting to see how different pregnancies are... looks like I need to skip a bit of chocolate and go on more walks... haha

I think I put on about 3 stone in each of my pregnancies. I weigh 8stone usually so quite a lot for my size

Mummylanie3 · 01/04/2020 20:08

I'm 36 +2 midwife weighed me today and I've put on 10lb

KHall84 · 01/04/2020 20:15

I am 37 weeks and have gained 3stone with this pregnancy and in my last I gained 3.5stone but I also lost it just as quick I wouldnt worry to much ypyr growing another little human xx

Babbabump · 01/04/2020 20:53

I've tracked my weight weekly ish coz I'm sad like that haha and I'm 28 weeks now and am 0.2lb off a stone extra.

The midwife said thats fine as We have 50% extra volume of blood and your uterus can weigh a couple of lbs too

I'm not concerned and am remaining active :)

Chista · 01/04/2020 21:00

I put on 4kg and he was 3.2kg, went straight back into my old clothes thankfully

lauryloo · 01/04/2020 21:09

34 weeks and up about 5lb.

Ive been quite sick tho

Pentium85 · 01/04/2020 21:11

You need to stop worrying about what other people did during pregnancy.

Unless you have severely lost or gained weight, there really is no norm

Jojo19834 · 01/04/2020 21:15

22 weeks and 2.5kg. My BMI is 31 so recommended I only put on 4-9kg so watching this closely. Nothing deliberate and as my first i have no idea what to expect but so far no massive appetite and stomach is smaller I’m sure so hope I can keep constant.

magicalpeach · 01/04/2020 21:29

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and i'm the same weight as my booking appointment at 9 weeks so i've gained nothing. I'm on track for a 9lb'er too!

jdy123 · 01/04/2020 22:06

I'm 23 weeks this Saturday and have put on around 11lbs I think.
I'm using weight tracker as I find it helps keep my anxiety at bay so I can make sure I'm not putting on too much.
All I wanna do is eat atm !!

DeadbeatDescendant · 01/04/2020 22:15

34 weeks, lost a lot in 1st trimester (nearly a stone) and have put 1lb back on, so now 10st. I tend to gain my weight after the birth 😭 when I go mad on pate and steak and wine.

Cherrytangfastic · 01/04/2020 22:31

Almost 22 weeks here. Have gone from 62.5 to 67kg. I've been worried about putting too much weight on, but I don't look much bigger anywhere other than my huge bump. I can't stop eating though so we'll see what happens in the coming weeks! Blush

artio0 · 01/04/2020 22:47

That's just a guideline (the 12kg thing), don't stress over it too much. I had a low BMI when I got pregnant and gained over 25kg by week 36 or so... No midwife ever weighed me after my 12 week scan as they said it's not necessary. Baby was born healthy and an average weight. And about 6 months after birth I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight again without exercising or restricting my diet. I'd say just try to eat healthy food and not junk food, but make sure you eat when you're hungry as your body needs the nutrients now. All the best!

hopsalong · 01/04/2020 22:55

Thanks for sharing, helpwithaversion. I never understood how it was possible to gain more weight with my hyperemesis pregnancy (had subjective feeling I basically ate NOTHING for nine months other than the odd biscuit, but put on three stone) than with my ordinary mildly queasy for a few weeks one where I was eating huge amounts of steak, cream, porridge, spinach, juice etc.

JuneBaby20 · 03/04/2020 16:03

Thank you all for sharing. I have no idea why I was stressed. Maybe because I've always been skinny and even underweight (ALWAYS tried hard to put weight on though !) but the fact that I am gaining weight this quickly and loose my shape was hard for me especially at the beginning and middle of this pregnancy. I mean who cares?? As long as we all try to be healthy and I cannot wait to meet my little baby. SO happy! :)

This threat really changed the way I think now :) x
