I'm currently nesting (aka - trying to prep for baby arrival in May) and given the current situation keen to ensure I get anything I need ordered sooner rather than later, as things seem to be taking a while.

Question: what did you forget to do that you actually needed to do, or was there anything you found you had too much or too little of?

Well I for one have not fully packed my hospital bag as I thought I had plenty of time and baby arrived prematurely.

We had no formula sorted because I thought I would bf, and BF didn't work, so partner spent loads of time running around town trying to get ready to feed stuff I could use in hospital (they gave us enough for 1 day, but then you need to bring your own). This time round I'll get some milk sorted we can have just in case if my body decides to show me middle finger and not produce enough milk again.

I didnt have enough maternity pads. I still have not enough and nowhere to get them, so lesson not learned :/

I forgot to pack a bag. Twice.

I also bought no bottles or formula as I was determined to breastfeed. I did breastfeed, but it was rather presumptuous of me. And I bought no breast pads.

I wished I had put my hospital bag in the car. Went for a checkup and was admitted for an 8 day stay prior to being induced. This time I’m going to put one in the boot from 35 weeks and leave another bag with extra clothes etc at home.

I also planned on cooking meals and freezing them to use after birth and really wished I had because we kept forgetting we had to eat until we were starving.

Another one here who went without a hospital bag.

I was planning on doing it the first weekend of maternity leave (36 weeks). Unfortunately my body had better ideas and developed pre-eclampsia 2 days beforehand. Since I work on the delivery suite and was on shift at the time, I got admitted immediately. DH did his best packing it for me, but it still took a few attempts (and increasingly specific instructions) before I had everything needed.

If I ever have a second, I'm packing one the evening of the anomaly scan.

Erm, this might not apply to many, but I forgot to teach my husband how to cook! He was so up for taking over all the stuff I usually do, but when it came to it hadn't a clue. I remember having to talk him through pasta sauce and almost losing the plot because he reckoned chopping an onion meant chopping it in quarters...
