A friend is now 12 days past EDD and still no news re. safe arrival. I know she's really hoping for a home birth and was wondering how may days past her due date they would let her go before induction. In my day it was 10 days - has this changed?

I thought it was 10 days, tho I know my cousins wasnt induced when she went overdue, but thats cos she was a MV and refused to go in to be induced and insisted on a home birth.

In our hospital it is 14 days, and they induce you on the 14th.

I've heard it's 14 days. I think the NICE guidelines might cover this. I think you can still refuse to be induced and request monitoring instead, even after 14 days.

I was 'booked' for inductions 12 days after EDD for both children. (DS arrived 14 days after as had to wait for a bed, and DD arrived 5 hours before induction scheduled). However, you don't HAVE to be induced at all. Not sure what the implications are for a home birth.
