For anyone who’s just given birth or due to give birth in the next month or so, when do you think your parents will get to meet your baby?

I’m starting to get my head around the restrictions on partners at hospital but I’m so sad at the thought of being all alone with a newborn for weeks or months potentially.
Without visits from family and friends

I hope it's soon.

But for perspective - my mum was born in 1943, and her Dad didn't get to meet her until 1945 when he was eventually allowed home from the war. They always had a great bond, despite the gap at the start.

Not for months for us. Baby due here in 4-5 weeks. We live abroad, so all family had flights booked for May onwards and throughout the summer to visit. So no until boarders re-open and flights are re-instated.

Several family member are too old to travel so we had planned to travelling back with baby August time, I'm not sure this will happen now as even if certain things reopen, I feel at the moment its safer where we live (countryside, with wide open spaces)

As far as I’m aware, midwives are recommending no visitors for baby until 8 weeks (although please correct me if I’m wrong). Also note that first set of Imms are at 8 weeks so it’s probably best. I’m due in August so may be different by then but if this is still the case, we have fully accepted that’s what’s needed to keep our baby safe. Grandparents are upset of course but they understand too and we are so privileged to be living in a technology age with phones and video calls etc. A few weeks/months of isolation is nothing compared to the risk the baby will catch something so awful and potentially get very unwell.

8 weeks isn’t so bad I guess

I’m worried if they will be stuck due to lockdown running on for months and months
