Should I start buying baby things?

I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow, I've bought a few cute clothing items and we've been gifted a full travel set, bouncer, BF pillow and some other little bits but I haven't bought any of the essential clothing bits yet or a cot/moses basket.

Can I still leave it a while or should I start now? With everything going on money is tight as I'm not working so I'm really unsure of when I should start.

Without knowing what job your partner is doing (assuming he's involved) it's impossible to say what your financial situation is going to be. You obviously need to prioritise food/bills.

If you've got the money, and don't mind second hand, I would start looking at bundles of baby clothes on eBay. You've got time to hang on for the bargains. And because they're only in them for such a short time, most second hand baby clothes are almost like new anyway.

I'd be surprised if you weren't offered clothes by anyone you know - we were offered loads.

DS had the second hand stuff on while at home and I'd put him in the nice outfits I bought when we went out.

Moses baskets aren't always worth the money - you just need somewhere to put baby down if you're downstairs, and if your travel set has a bassinet, that's as good. Otherwise, you can often find Moses baskets and cots second hand on eBay local/Facebook. A quick swizz over with anti-bac spray, and always a new mattress, and you're sorted.

Your best bet at the moment might be to wait for a couple of weeks and see if the lockdown is lifted, as I'm sure then there will be people advertising them.

Thank you. My husband is a graphics designer currently working from home so still getting full pay. I'm still getting paid but a reduced amount.

I am also 24 weeks and have most things! 😬 had slowly picked things up and then panicked on lockdown and bought more from my list. Definitely worth starting to think about essentials, nappies, wipes etc and buying a pack each week with your shopping to start stocking up. Hard to know when this will all end. Maybe write a list of what you need and start buying/ordering 1 or 2 things a week xx

I'm nearly 29 weeks and this is my last full pay slip until baby arrives. Money is tight and I keep thinking I should buy stuff this month because I'm worried if I "just wait till next payday" I won't have time. I have all the big stuff but it's little things like stuff for my hospital bag, milk, nappies, vests, socks. Am I too early?
