Cervical Erosion and pregnancy

I'm 25+6 days pregnant and had the fright of my life on friday when I started bleeding (after a bowel movement). It was bright red and probably a few tablespoons in quantity. Rushed to maternity triage and heard a strong heartbeat, my vitals were good and I am booked in for a scan early next week just to rule anything else out. I am also still feeling baby move and have had zero cramps etc.
They also did an internal exam with showed cervical ectropion or cervical erosion which is thankfully nothing to worry about and wont affect the pregnancy etc. I still feel a bit scared because I'm still spotting a little bit, just light brown/yellow mixed with creamy cm. Kind of like the annoying bit at end of a period that just wont go away. I'm sure its just the old blood making it's way out but I wondered if anyone has/had this and how long you spotted for afterwards? Also this might happen again and wondered if you have had it was it a once off or did it happen a few times?

Any advice would be great Grin

@stilltobeseen this happened to me Friday. But I'm
A negative blood and had a slight spotting, I went to hospital thinking it was just the Anti D injection had a internal Friday and yesterday for more specialist advice and it's the same cervical Ectroprian, said nothing to worry but I will spot throughout my pregnancy. I have had some light brown discharge at points when I got home etc but only small.
It was very scary as they thought could be cancer, not sure if baby was ok. But they managed to find a portable scanner and I saw baby was ok Smile

@BabyOne90 thank you for the reply! I just wish the brown discharge would stop now and go back to normal its fraeking me out even though it's very light. Can't wait to have the scan to double check everything. The doc said the same to me, that I might have spotting throughout. How far along are you?

@stilltobeseen it's okay! I know I looked through forums and couldn't see anyone who kinda going through it Smile
I'm 15+5 days so I was extremely nervous!! And still a long way to go! Me too. Mine is very light and not all the time, it's just always a worry when you see it!
I'm sure everything will be fine on the scan especially that you heard the heartbeat 💓

@BabyOne90 always a comfort to know others are going through the same thing.

With both my pregnancies I had bleeding/clotting around 30weeks, no other symptoms and was overnight in hospital both times. And not really given an explanation! It was about 8 years later I was diagnosed with cervical erosion and put two and two together. For me it was one off, eventually stopped (a week?), it was the same with both pregnancies weirdly. Everyone's different of course, but it would've helped me to know of other experiences.

I have a cervical ectropian and have had spotting pretty much every week on and off since the beginning of my pregnancy and I’m now 33 weeks! It has been confirmed with a speculum and my consultant is not particularly worried! She just tells me that if the bleeding is ever different to what is ‘usual for me’ to get in touch! So far it hasn’t caused me any problems (touch wood!) but I did have lots of scans early on and I’m now having growth scans every 4 weeks, just to check all is ok with the baby! I have exactly what you described and it happens frequently. I totally understand that seeing blood completely freaks women out during pregnancy, but if you have been told you have an ectropian then try not to worry too much, as it’s likely just that and will get worse after intercourse/ bowel movements or just because baby is getting bigger and putting more pressure on the cervix. If you are worried get yourself checked at your maternity unit, that’s what they are there for and can put your mind at ease. I have been lots of time’s because of this and they have always been great Smile

@MLP123 Thank you for your reply! It started again yesterday but not as heavy as the first time. Looks like this may be something I have to deal with now for the rest of pregnancy. I did call my midwife and she said just to monitor it and monitor baby's movements and if there are any changes to go in. We had just had a scan the day before and everything inside with baby looked perfect so I wasn't too worried when the bleeding started again. It's really quite annoying though because it seems to happen randomly for no reason.

@Stilltobeseen I’m glad the scan went well. Unfortunately if it is an ectropian causing the bleeding then it is something that you will probably have to get used to if it’s anything like mine! Having an ectropian is more of a nuisance than it is a problem. In my experience it does get less stressful the more you get used to what’s ‘normal’ for you. Just don’t ever hesitate to call if you are worried or if you think it’s different. SmileFlowers
